If you are looking for jobs that will pay you to work from home, you’re in luck. Lots of companies contract with or even employ individuals who work from home. Here is a list of 10 companies that are actively recruiting work-at-home agents:

ACD Direct

ACD Direct

This company hires individuals to work from home at its virtual call centers. Your work will involve taking inbound calls from people who are trying to make donations for fundraising campaigns, such as those operated by public broadcasting service (PBS) stations, national public radio (NPR) stations, and various charities.

ACD requires that you operate as an independent business owner, meaning that you need have an LLC or other corporate entity. You must also undergo an unpaid certification program before you can be hired and (more importantly) earn money.

Payment for work with ACD Direct is by the talk minute and ranges from $0.20-$0.35/minute.


If you’re tech-savvy and are familiar with Apple products, you could apply for a position with Apple as an At Home Advisor. As an At Home Advisor, you’ll take calls from Apple customers and help them troubleshoot through issues they are having with Apple products such as iPhones, Macs, iPads, etc.

Apple provides its advisors with an IMac and headset, as well as online support and training with a live instructor. Pay is $13-$15/hour. Even part-time advisors receive a benefits package that includes paid time off and product discounts.


Amazon offers many virtual and remote job opportunities in a wide variety of fields including customer service, software design and engineering, marketing, etc.

While the customer service positions are completely remote, other agents may need to be based in a given geographic region in order to call and work with area businesses (e.g., bookstores, restaurants).

Payment starts at $11/hour for customer service agents.



Educational Testing Service hires contractors to score tests such as the GRE, TOEFL, college-level AP exams, etc. Some of these exams involve essays and written tests.

ETS pays $10-$20/hour and prefers that its contractors have a college degree and/or educational background.

Fancy Hands

Work at Fancy Hands

This company hires and retains virtual assistants (VAs) for its clients. Those VAs work from home and complete a wide variety of tasks, from making restaurant reservations to finding the best price for airline tickets (and booking the flight) to basic data entry.

In addition to having a computer and fast Internet, Fancy Hands recommends that you purchase an audio headset with a microphone.

Payment is per task completed and ranges from $2.50-$7, although complicated tasks may pay more. There is some opportunity for advancement to managerial positions, where you manage other VAs and smooth out any issues.

Great VirtualWorks


This company offers customer service and inbound/outbound sales jobs for its corporate clients via work-at-home agents. These agents do need to be independent business owners to work with Great VirtualWorks, however, so file for your LLC or other corporate identity if you wish to work for this company.

After your application is accepted, you will need to undergo a certification program. During the time you are being certified, you will not be paid.

Once you receive certification, your starting pay is $10/hour and can go as high as $15/hour if certain metrics are exceeded. You must also commit to working 10-15 hours/week.

Hilton Worldwide

Hilton Worldwide

Hilton offers work-at-home positions in reservation sales and customer service. The work is year-round and comes with a benefits package including 401(k), health, dental and vision insurance, and paid time off.

Reservations Sales Specialists are trained from home in Hilton’s “virtual learning environment.” The training lasts 4-7 weeks and 100% attendance is required. After you successfully complete the online training modules, you will graduate from the program.

If you wish to try your hand at customer service, you will need to train at Hilton’s call center in Dallas. After you complete your training there, you will be able to work from home.

Pay for reservation sales specialists ranges from $11-$14/hour, and for customer service representatives is $9/hour.


This company hires work-at-home Personalized Search Engine Evaluators. These evaluators conduct online research using search engines such as Google and evaluate the relevance of data received on search engine results pages. Because the data returned are personalized, Leapforce requires that evaluators have a Google account open during their work period and have their web history turned on. Evaluators should also be regular users of Google products such as Gmail, Google+ and Google Play.

Leapforce pays its evaluators $14/hour. Evaluators must train and successfully pass a certification exam before they are hired.



This company hires work-at-home social media Internet assessors from all over the world. Although the work is remote, assessors must be state, region or province-specific because the company is assessing personalized search results that are also localized.

Just like with Leapforce, Lionbridge seeks assessors who already have a Google account and use various Google products. Payment is $13-$15/hour.



This is a virtual call center company that hires agents to take inbound sales calls for its clients. LiveOps hires agents only from the continental states of the USA. A landline is required for this work, and optimally, a headset with microphone.

Agents work in 30 minute increments and earn $0.20-$0.25/minute of talk time. Some LiveOps clients offer sales incentives to agents, so you could make more than the top $15/hour.

Prior to getting hired with LiveOps, you will need to pay for and pass a background check. There is also a 12-hour certification program that you will need to complete before taking calls.

Working Solutions

Working Solutions

This company hires home-based agents to work in customer and technical service and sales via phone, chat and email. To become an agent, you’ll need a computer, high-speed Internet service and a landline.

Due to the wide range of work that Working Solutions offers, agents are paid from $7.50-$30/hour.
