Wouldn’t it be great if you could make money by doing nothing more than watching videos?

Well, guess what? Now you can. The following websites and mobile apps will actually reward you for watching various videos, commercials and other clips. Here’s a list of 10 such reward sites.

Swagbucks Watch

Swagbucks offers numerous ways to score Swagbucks, which can be redeemed for gift cards, sweepstakes entries and cash. One of these ways is by watching videos, commercials, sports, music and news clips and sponsored content. This content pays out 1-3 SB, with the exchange rate of SB to dollars being 100 SB=$1.

The nice thing about Swagbucks Watch is that you can watch it either on your regular computer or mobile phone. You can also install Swagbucks Watch as an extension to your Chrome ISP.

This mobile app offers you the opportunity to watch movies, trailers, sports, educational, lifestyle and comedy clips, and play games. When you do, you earn Perk Points, which can be redeemed for gift cards, prize drawings and plain and simple cash.

The exchange rate of Perks Points to cash isn’t bad; 1000 points gets you $1.00 in cash. Watching a short clip (such as an ad prior to a video) nets you 1 PP, and you also get 100 PP on signup. Feature movies earn 10 PP or more.

Perk.TV is actually a family of apps, enabling you to download only those activities you wish to participate in. The only drawback with this arrangement is that you’ll need to update all these apps periodically.

Nielsen RewardTV

This website is actually a product of the Nielsen Company, which provides ratings for TV programs. With RewardTV, you go online to play trivia games that test your knowledge of various movies, game shows, comedy skits, etc. If you answer the questions correctly, you are awarded points. Those points can be redeemed for either gift cards or cash. You are also entered into sweepstakes drawings.

It takes 30,000 points to equal $1, which seems a bit steep; however, keep in mind that answering a single RewardTV survey or quiz can earn you 7,500 points.

Nielsen

Speaking of Nielsen, you can learn about becoming an online, mobile and/or media panelist at the company’s website. If you are selected and agree to be monitored, you will be sent a device that connects to your computer, mobile phone or TV. You will also be asked to track your viewing habits by keeping a diary.

Unfortunately, you cannot just apply to be a panelist; instead, you must be randomly selected by Nielsen. Once selected, you are mailed informational materials to your home. However, Nielsen has recently increased the number of households it surveys, so be on the lookout for any Nielsen mail potentially showing up in your mailbox.

  1. Great list of video-related earning sites but I was wondering what your opinion was on Clixsense? It also offers videos-for-money and was one of the sites that paid for my marketing training several years ago. I’m interested in your opinion because just recently (last week) Clixsense lost it’s Paypal option after many years….and in my book that’s pretty much the grim reaper for earning sites! What are your views on them?

I have been a member at Clixsense since 2010 and have had great experiences with them. I haven’t logged in this month yet, but just saw the news. While it sucks that they lost Paypal, there are still a number of payout options, including check, that are available. It is bad news, but I doubt it’ll be the end of them. I’ll be switching my payments over to check now.

  2. Well I’m thinking that my grand-kids could benefit from these apps as they watch an awful lot of tv. The older ones would be more interested I think. Actually, I have a few friends who would be interested in doing something like this, earning rewards and exchanging it for cash. I had heard about this type of earning and always wondered how it worked, and now I do so thanks.

  3. Making money for watching videos has a certain appeal to it. Reading through the list of 10 places to earn money watching videos, it doesn’t pay very much for the time it would take to watch these videos. How long are the videos on average? Is this something you do yourself to earn some money? I’m just trying to establish if it’s worth pursuing or not.

  4. I’ve heard about some of these sites, always seemed like a good gig, watching TV and getting paid for it. Some of them might be worth a look for someone you likes to watch a lot of TV and videos online. I’m not sure I watch enough to make it worth it because I don’t think you’ll be able to earn very much and it will take a while to get a small pay check.

Yeah, the sites listed above are never going to replace a full-time income of any sorts, but if you’re going to be wasting time watching videos online anyway, you might as well as get paid to do so.

  5. That’s amazing. Always thought of there is no free lunch in this world but think of it actually we are spending time in exchange for money. Which I found this article will 10 sites you listed above will benefit many people for earning extra pocket money using their free time.

I have a question here. Is Swagbucks Watch Available in Singapore? As I recalled I did participate Swagbucks before but chosen Singapore but somehow they mentioned the survey is unavailable in my country.

I don’t believe that it is. Last I checked, Swagbucks was mainly targeting the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia. They are always expanding however so check back every so often.
