Special note: Read this post entirely. This isn’t one worth skimming. Take the time to read it in full.
If you’re reading this, then you’re interested in learning how to build an online business. You want to either supplement your current income or change your career and find a way to make a reliable income online.
Before we begin, you have to understand a few things…
- A career change is a pretty big deal. This isn’t for people who believe there’s a way to get rich quick online. There’s not.
- This isn’t easy. There’s no secret formula out there or some guaranteed blueprint you can follow. It’s work. Not interested in working? Close this page.
- You have to be willing to invest in some training. How else are you going to learn? If you wanted to change your career offline, you’d go back to school, right? What makes online any different?
I tell you this upfront and encourage you to leave if any of this is discouraging. I try to be as honest as possible with you. I’m not interested in deceiving people for sales. That’s not what this website is about.
The first thing we have to do is get you to forget any of the past sales pages you’ve seen. You know the ones with the flashy cars, the loaded bank accounts, and the claims that you can makes tens of thousands of dollars each month online by doing next to nothing.
You have to realize that this is work. If you’re looking for something easy that makes a ton of money, you are never going to find it. Instead, you’ll just find a jerk who’s only goal is to milk you for as much money as possible. He will hook you in with a crappy cheap eBook, usually $27, that absolutely guarantees you can make millions online then tell you you need to add on thousands of dollars of products to start to see any success. He laughs all the way to the bank and you have trouble paying your bills next month.
These type of people don’t care about you. I see it happen all the time. I’ve been running this blog for about four years now and the stories I’ve heard are heartbreaking. I’ve worked with struggling people to get their money back so they can afford to put food on the table once again. Do you think the guy selling these crappy products cares if you make money? Of course not. His only concern is getting you to pony up once again.
What makes me any different?
I try and keep it as real as possible. I don’t want to give you any false hopes. I can link to one of those scammy sales pages, tell you guys it’s the best thing since sliced bread, and make an ABSOLUTE FORTUNE. I don’t because I simply cannot profit off of another’s hardships. That’s not my M.O. I’m not here to cause you pain, but rather, help you find a way to make money online.
What do I recommend?
It’s called Internet Marketing and it’s what I do full-time from home for me.
Basically, you’ll learn how to create websites or write articles and sell other people’s products for a commission. I know I just said sell, but you won’t be doing sales. Bear with me and let me break Internet Marketing down for you to it’s simplest form.
Let’s say you are going on a trip and you want to buy a new digital camera under $200 to capture the memories. You head on over to Google and type in “best $200 camera for travelling” and start to read through some of the results. You find one page which is a review of a decently priced camera that fits your needs. At the bottom of the review is a link to the camera at Amazon.com. You click the link, buy the camera, and have a wonderful time on your trip.
What you didn’t notice is that when you clicked the link to Amazon.com, you clicked on someone’s affiliate link. Your experience didn’t change and you still got the camera for the same price; however, the person that wrote the review for the camera just received a commission on your sale. A $200 camera probably just earned them $14 in commissions. Now, that’s just one sale. Think of how many billions of searches that are done at Google or Bing or Yahoo and how many trillions of dollars are spent online and you’ll begin to realize the potential behind Internet Marketing.
This is the type of work that I do every single day and I’ve been blessed to be able to make a full-time income online doing it. I work at home for me. I find something that interests me that I think might help other people and I write about it and make money. I don’t work to make someone else rich and I don’t have to follow orders from some mid-level-management clown who profits off of my work.
Now, I can read your mind, you know. You’re thinking to yourself “I don’t know how to create websites” or “I don’t know what I would write about” or “I’m not that good of a writer” or “This sounds too complicated for me.” I just want to let you know that you’re wrong.
I started this post with a list of requirements I wanted you to meet before you continued reading. One of those requirements was that you were willing to invest in some training. Let’s face it, you want to learn this stuff right? You need someone to teach you. There’s no ways around that. Internet Marketing is very hard to do on your own.
Ready to learn?
So I do have a little recommendation for you and it’s a training program called The Wealthy Affiliate University. It’s a lot like an online school for Internet Marketing. You create an account, following training, attend webinar classes, meet other people, and really just learn how to build a successful online business. The only difference is that when your success at Wealthy Affiliate translates into money, not grades.
The best part about Wealthy Affiliate is that they’ll provide you with all the tools you’ll ever need and they’ll never try and charge you more. The biggest problem with other internet marketing companies is that they’ll lure you in with a super cheap and crappy product to get you in the door, then they upsell you at every corner and insist that every addon is necessary to making money. Wealthy Affiliate is NOT like that. You join at one rate, and will never have to pay more to access more features of the site. When I say everything is included, EVERYTHING is included.
Like I said, this is a full-on training program. If you don’t know what to write about, they’ll help you narrow down a niche. If you don’t know how to create a website, they have a tool that will build you websites automatically. If you don’t know how to get your website on Google, they’ll show you exact step-by-step method to follow to get your website listed.
I know you don’t know how to do any of that now. That’s the point of Wealthy Affiliate to train you on everything you’ll need to know to succeed.
And when you lose focus or need help, they offer personal one-on-one support for free. I’ve emailed the owners of the program numerous times and have always received a relevant, concise explanation. It just goes to show that they actually do care about their member’s success.
Much like a real university, it does cost money to attend Wealthy Affiliate. A membership starts at $47 per month. That may seem like a lot of money to some of you, but if around a dollar a day is too much to spend for training, maybe building an online business isn’t for you.
Is Wealthy Affiliate perfect? No, of course not. Nothing is. It does has its flaws. For instance, there is a ton of information there and you can feel overwhelmed with what to do next. There’s also that monthly membership fee that may be hard to swallow for some of you. But the pros seriously outweigh the cons.
I already know most of you aren’t going to take my advice. You might click through the link I give you at the end of this post and look around, but you’ll almost definitely close it and go back to considering the flashy websites. I don’t blame you. Those screenshots sure are convincing. Just know that you most likely will never achieve that level of success and you’ll spend thousands of dollars to learn that lesson.
If you’re still a little apprehensive, click here and send me an email. I promise I’ll respond. I really do want to help you. Let me know what’s holding you back and we’ll talk.
So what do I recommend? Well, I recommend you click here and come join Wealthy Affiliate and work alongside of me and thousands of other people all working towards building a legitimate business online. I know it works. I pay my monthly dues and follow the system, training, and advice. I ask questions to both the community forum and the owners.
I’ve built my own online business and work full-time at home for ME.
Was it easy?
No, not at all.
Was it worth it?
You know it was.
