Angela Penbrook? Angel Stevens? A Scam by Any Other Name…

Hey, you! “Angela Penbrook!” We’re calling you out. You are deliberately misleading people desperate for legitimate work so you can sell your “rebate processing program.” We’re gonna expose you.

When we said we were going to review the “rebate processing jobs” that have become popular over the last year, one of the first commenters asked if we were going to look at Angela Penbrook’s system at myrebateprocessor.com or processfromhome.com. Or is it “Angel Stevens?” It doesn’t really matter because both “women” and their claims are equally misleading.

[Update March 10, 2009: ABC News’s 20/20 program featured this scam on March 6. Click here to watch the segment.]

We didn’t sign up for her program because it was $197, while other sites are offering the exact same “opportunity” for as little as $29.95. And because we didn’t sign up, this is not a full review. It’s merely my opinion based on experience and based on the claims on “Angela’s” own website.

Read All About “Rebate Processing Jobs”
If you’re new to I’ve Tried That, you’ll want to click over to our full review of rebate processor jobs. We signed up for one of them and tell you all about what they’re really offering.

After you’ve read that original review, this one will make a lot more sense. It’s the same pig, just with different lipstick.

It’s Not a Job. They’re Barely Rebates
What Penbrook is offering you is not a job. You’re not going to get batches of work from Home Depot of Blockbuster or Netflix. It is internet marketing. And to call what you would be doing “rebate processing” is deliberately misleading. Here’s how the program is supposed to work:

  • The forms you fill out are used to create Internet advertisements for companies selling products through Clickbank, a large Internet marketing clearing house.
  • After you create an ad, you have to get lots of people to see it. You do this by spreading your ads all over the ‘Net. (Psst! That’s called “spam” and is frowned upon in polite societies.)
  • When lots of people see it, some will click on it.
  • When lots of people click on it, some will purchase whatever your ad is selling.
  • Then, and only then, will you get paid.
  • The “rebate” is you sending part of your commission back to the buyer.
  • Lots of Hype, Little Substance
Here’s a clue you can use to spot misleading “job” advertisements every time: look for the sales tactics. Why are sales tactics a clue that you’re about to be taken to the cleaners? Because the scammer led you to believe that you’re learning about a job. But if you read the whole page, do you have a good idea of what you will be doing?

Imagine going to a job interview and your potential boss tells you a sob story about how broke he was, how he finally “made it” and how you can make thousands of dollars a day. Wouldn’t you be suspicious he didn’t tell you what work you would be doing? The same principle applies to Internet “job” advertisements.

Here are the sales tactics Angela Penbrook uses at myrebateprocessor.com. See the looooong page that starts out with emotional hype? See the clock ticking down until your chance to buy expires? Those are designed to sell you something, not to get you to do legitimate work. Do you really think the positions are almost full and that “today might be the last day?” It’s a sales tactic. See the testimonials? See the pictures of riches and happy people? All are designed to push your emotional buttons to get you to click and buy.

The Full Truth About Some of Her Lies
$15 per rebate? If you make a sale from your Internet ads AND the commission is more than $15 AND you decide to send all but $15 back to the purchaser as a “rebate,” then yes, you made $15. I don’t know about you, but that’s a lot of “if.”

Three easy steps? Yes, you can sign up at Clickbank, create ads, and see who has made purchases that are eligible for refunds. I guess those are three steps. But they are NOT easy steps. They’re categories of steps, each one requiring countless hours and clicks. You’ll spend many hours just to get started, let alone the complex steps involved in getting people to see and click on your ads.

The reasons processing rebates is profitable. These reasons are about halfway down her page, after the table showing how much money you can make. They are deliberately written to make you think companies are dieing to “hire” you to work from home processing their rebates. I hope it’s clear by now that nothing could be further from the truth.

If You Don’t Believe Me, How About the Better Business Bureau?
The BBB report has this to say about myrebateprocessor.com:

Complainants allege false advertising, misrepresentation, inability to obtain refunds, and failure to honor their money back guarantee. Some customers complain that instead of receiving an employment opportunity, they received only instructions on internet sales tactics. Other complainants report they are unable to speak with anyone at the company or that company personnel is rude or fails to resolve their concerns. Most complainants allege the company fails to provide any information or instructions on obtaining refunds. All complaints are pending at this time.

    And this:

We believe this company’s advertising is deceptive and misleading. They are not directly offering employment. They sell information, not viable work opportunities. In our experience, the only one collecting any money will be this company collecting your $197.00. We know of no work at home offer that has ever generated the amount of income implied or advertised in the offer.

    Scrubbing the Ick Off
I could go on, but I’ve spent enough time with Angela Penbrook. I need to go take a shower now. I’m so thoroughly disgusted with her deception, I can’t even tell you. Here at I’ve Tried That, we hear from lots of people who are just trying to make a little extra working from home, and they get taken in by lying pages like this one. They usually spend money they don’t have to sign up for programs they don’t understand. Angela Penbrook knows this and plays your fears to make herself rich.

We’ve written a book that tells you how to find real jobs online and how to spot deceptive advertising like rebate processing sites use.

    [Update: April 5, 2008]
This is very revealing. Connie in the comments called “Angela’s” 1-800 number to demand a refund. The rep on the other end of the line took her name and information, put her on hold, and then came back and said her refund was being processed. But Connie never signed up to begin with! “Angela Penbrook’s” operation is probably being run from a kitchen table somewhere with a pencil and paper.

  1. Well As angry as I am at this scam of a program I’m just as mad at myself for not doing the extra leg work to find out more about it. I knew that there was now way that I could make that kind of money that it was some extrordinary figure but I hoped that it was atleast going to be money for the work I was going to put in to it. What I didn’t need was a sales type scam to just take my money. Following a few of you here I contacted Joseph Ashford who could not help me because I received my program from A Stevens. After weeks of trying to contact the “company” I finally got through and magically got the confirmation number(892368) sounds familiar. After being hung up on for questioning the validity of the number I moved to the bank route.I was in the process of filling out the paperwork when this week I noticed a new charge on my card from Rebate Millionair for 89.95. This charge was almost 1 month after the At Home purchase. Using the number next to the charge on my account I found out that this is Raven Media and they are a partner co. with At Home. This charge is an additional service that they provide and said that it was disclosed that they would charge. Funny thing is I don’t rember ever singing up for it. The nice people at Raven said they would as a courtesy they would remove the charges for both products. the number for them is 1-800-685-3011. Within 3 hrs of talking to them I received a confirmation e-mail saying the refunds were being processed. I hope that everyone in the future sees this sight and can avoid the hassel that these crooks have put people through. Good luck everyone.

  3. Look, Angel Stevens and Angela Penbrook are in no way affiliated!!!!!!!! I cannot give refunds to people who are not customers of Penbrook Productions. As you can see, I am quite able to refund those who are customers of my employer. I do what I can, and if you have any questions as to who you were being charged by, you’ll see our 866 885 8126 phone number next to the charge if you were charged by penbrook productions. If you don’t see that number or Penbrook Productions, then I cannot help you. The only connection is the product. After that, we are not in any way shape or form connected.

  4. We got our money back, finally!!! Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!! :) :) :)

Yesterday, my husband called our credit company, and we already have our refund!!! :) :) :) I praise God for that!!! :) :) :)

We did it in a different way… We got our credit bank statement and we saw the 197 dollars charged, and next to the description there was an 866 phone number (866-885-8126), so, my husband called them and requested them our money back… It was the only way that worked! :)

I had sent many e-mails requesting technical support first, but no answers, then I sent many more requesting my money back and I got no one answer, then I talked to a supervisor and he hanged me up when I requested my money back, I made many calls and nothing happened… Until we received our credit bank statement, we saw that 866 number and we called them.

So, they gave us a number like a confirmation one and told us to allow them 5-7 business day to receive it back!!!

Keep trying! Try the number I gave it to you!

Good luck and praying for you all.

  5. Megan, Call Joseph Ashbrook at Penbrook Productions ,949-706-3183,
or e-mail him at ccm@penbrookproductions.com. He handled mine and got it refunded for me. If that does not work go back through your credit card company before the charge is on there 60 days. He answered this phone the last time I called. It will give you another number to call but I would leave a message on this line. Hope this will help.

  6. PLEASE HELP. I like so many of you fell for the “Angel Stevens” scam….yup- she has TWO names. a.k.a. Angela Penbrook. The business i work for recently went under, and i was left unemployed, i’m getting married next year, and when I saw the site it looked pretty real compared to a lot i’ve seen, and i figured “money back” but I quickly realized that it was all a scam, and within 3 hours was trying to get my money back- with no success. I’d like to make this as painless and quick as possible seeing i don’t have a job, and we have bills to pay, i could really use that $200. If you HAVE got your refund, will ou please help me out with the right number to call….theres been so many and none have got me through so far. Thank you SO much in advance, i feel like a fool!

  7. G’day everyone,
Yep, I’m an Aussie and it looks like I’ve been done too – so it appears that Angel/Angela’s nasty fingers reach all the way around the world! Oh dear, I wish I had googled her/him first. I think I knew deep down that it was a scam but desperation obviously won over commonsense.
Even if I lose my $200+ Aussie Dollars you have all saved me precious time. As soon as I received the first email I knew it was a scam (then belatedly googled for more info). I was still willing to give it a red hot go but thanks to all of you I won’t bother wasting my precious time – I’ll just pop down the paddock and ride my pet kangaroo instead (hee hee just kidding!). But hey – even though we’ve been robbed blind let’s remember to keep our sense of humour – She’s got our 200 bucks but don’t let her take away your smile too :) Good luck everyone, Cheers, Cath

  9. I also read the ad on making money at home. Got the page that asked me for my zip code etc. I thought why in the H would they need my zip code if this was business done on the internet. Then I remembered another ad which was b.s. which asked for my zip code and came back with a congatulations msg. saying that I was eligible for the offer….or whatever.
I then decided to read the “Privacy Notice” It says in effect, that there is no privacy and no job processing rebates. But goes into details of me receiving offers and them sharing my ss#, credit card info, home address and on & on!!
My only advice is that you must realize that THE INTERNET IS FACELESS MINEFIELD!!

If you are very skillful you can navigate it without getting blown up. And folks……read all the fine print before you part with one red cent of your hard earned money or give any personal information. Good luck.

  10. I am soo glad that I googled Angela Stevens before sending my 197.00. I actually went the extra mile by chatting with a rep on how I felt about the presentation. It was too good to be true. She let me know that I could make money and fast after I sign up. While reading these testimonials, I went back and chatted with the same rep and let her know that they were exposed and to visit this site to see! Maybe they’ll shut down!!

I hope all of the rest of you will get your money refunded also. There already is a new twist that I had not seen. I looked at the BBB report on them and this link (http://www.myincomeathome.com/) was on the report and is a different approach. I did not follow it through. Someone else will have to do that.

  14. UPDATE…UPDATE…UPDATE…UPDATE

    IT’S WORKING!!

Hey everyone, Just a quick note to give some good news.

In my work (showing people how to make money from home) I do a lot of research. And part of that research is checking on the traffic of various websites. I just did a quick check on the website Angela Penbrook uses to promote her “hook and crook” rebate processing offer. THE TRAFFIC TO THAT SITE IS TANKING!

They have lost over 90% of their daily traffic and page rank in the last 45 days. And I have a feeling this site has had something to do with that. Why?

Because even though does not get near the same traffic, I noticed that each time I saw a spike in little miss hookster Penbrook’s traffic, I also saw a corresponding spike in the traffic for here. What that means is each time someone went to her site and then did a search for more information they would find this site and this thread in the search results. But the daily traffic for you know who, is essentially bottoming out.

So it appears that progress is being made. I would be willing to bet they are going to have to come with a new angle, because this one is going down. LITERALLY!!!

Great job Joe. And a tip of the hat to you. And one more thing. I have gotten several emails giving great reviews to your site and how you have saved them from the teeth of the Angela Penbrook money monster.

  16. Joseph,

The difference between one of the websites that I promote called littleguynetwork-x.com is many.

    1. I am not hiding behind a bogus website. (Where is Angela Penbrook…better yet WHO is Angela Penbrook…or is it Angela Stevens, Joe Ashford?)

    2. My customers know how to get in touch with me directly. (How do you get in touch with Angela Penbrook?

    3. You don’t have to look very hard to find my phone number. (Where is Angela Penbrook’s number buried?

    4. I actually “want” my customers to call me. (Angela Penbrook runs from her customers.

    5. My offer is very well known and very much out in the open. It is called full disclosure Joseph. (Exactly what IS Angela Penbrook offering? If your cheesy ebook is what you are offering, you are seriously misrepresenting your product and/or service – again your customers still don’t know what they are getting until AFTER they hand you the key to their bank account)

    6. My offer actually works. Can you show me even one legitimate example of where someone made any decent money from what your company offers. I am not referring to the generic, recycled, repackaged information you are trying to sell in your cheesy outdated ebook that anyone can get for free all over the place.

    7. My customers know when they call my number, they know they are going to talk to me. Not some middle management or other Customer Service employee that really does not care one way or the other if anything is solved, because the truth is, they are only their to collect a paycheck themselves. And they are only coached on what to say. Regardless if it is true or not. (Again where is Angela Penbrook? I am beginning to really feel Joseph that YOU are Angela Penbrook. You seem very willing to take a lot of heat, for some reason, for someone who is such an obvious crook.)

    8. I want my customers to know what they are getting with my offer BEFORE any money is exchanged. (Angela Penbrook takes the money first then tries to explain the why they are only getting a 50 page outdated ebook that is actually available for free all over the place.

    9. The products my customers get for the money compared to what Angela Penbrook AKA Joseph Ashford offers is like 1000 to .5. Have you ever heard of over deliver Joseph?

OK I could go on. But I think I have made my point. But just to round it off I will give one more.

    10. In case you have not noticed Joseph, YOU are the one with the problem here. Not me! I don’t have a single dissatisfied customer trying to call out a lynch mob because I scammed them. In fact, my customers Thank me everyday for providing what I do to help them make a real income from home.

In fact, I just got off the phone this morning from one of my people, a lady who lives in Florida. A widow at that. Who only called to say thank you for the opportunity I offered to her. She didn’t know what she was going to do after her husband passed away. This is a lady living on Social Security. And honestly, Joseph it is more than the products that a company offers. And your company Joseph could get the same kind of phones calls, if you would only see the obvious. It is called Guns or roses. Which one do you want? Being shot at or have roses thrown your way? It is really very simple.

    IT IS ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS!

Yes I know systems work and people fail. But I don’t care how good your offer is, if you don’t learn how to work with people you will fall flat one your face. But you already know that. You are experiencing that now. People fail because there is no relationship. There is no coaching, no mentoring.

Your company is going down, because you take money from people and then run and hide. Again Joseph, Angela, whatever your name is. CLEAN IT UP. JUST DO THE RIGHT THING. Or you will be forced to. But then I guess you already know that. That is why you are here…right? Because the fire is getting a little hot.

And once again, Kudos to Joe who hosts this thread. He is the one to applaud for setting it up. He is the one who has created the smoke signal of how much of a scam Angela Penbrook has been.
Now lets see if it gets fixed.

  17. I am so thankful for this website…I had a thought to google ‘work from home’ and came across the Site Review Authority ORG/Richard Andrew Stera, Angel Stevens, Angela Penbrook et.al and have spent the last 45 minutes or so reading posts about these folks. Their misrepresentation, malfactions and false advertising should be enough to shut them down. Coupled with their inability to faithfully and truthfully refund those that were misfortunate to believe the HYPE should serve as a warning to anyone that the old addage, IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT PROBABLY ISN’T. It’s just all to sad (and popular) that there are those out there who wish to rob the pockets of legitimate people trying to earn an income the old fashioned way-working for it. Good luck to you all in your efforts to reclaim your funds (I like the post about using the FBI!) and your ongoing pursuit(s) of finding meaningful employement while working from home.
I’m just thankful I found this site before I sunk my $197 into another wicked scam.

  19. To Joseph Ashford’s Post on May 5

While I commend you Joe for trying to do the right thing in your job. The bigger picture is that your employer is nothing but a crook, a huckster in the worst way. Maybe you should really take a legitimate look at your employer and direct your passion to them to clean up their act.

And if doing that intimidates you to the point of having fear of losing your job, that should be a loud and clear signal of what is really going on. If they truly want to do the right thing, they will welcome your concerns.

As for myself you should go back and read my posts on this blog of April 9th. Can you explain to me why or how your customer service could give me a refund confirmation number of 892368 when I have never given you a dime and have never done business with your company? I can. Because it was a scam to begin with.

The lady I spoke with was only reading a script she was trained to read when someone asks for a refund. The number she gave me is the same number they give out to everyone. And where is the refund? She told me it would take no more than 10 business days. I have not seen a dime. Not that I was expecting it. But she is the one who said it would show up in my bank account.

Amazing! I was told I would get a refund within 10 business days for a purchase I never made. Because again, it is a scam and the Customer Service people are coached as to every word to speak. There is never any intention of providing a refund. I have to admit, I was curious as to how that was going to happen when your company did not even have my bank account information.

And the only reason you are here now is because your company has been exposed to a degree that is beginning to get unwanted attention and now is costing you money. THAT MR ASHFORD IS THE ONLY REASON YOU ARE HERE NOW.

If it wasn’t for the people being fed up and getting no cooperation from your company, this blog and thread would not be here.

And why are you…a mid management employee trying to take the heat for their wrong doings? Where is your employer? Why are they, he, she, whoever not on here trying to get this cleaned up themselves? They would rather hide behind a website and let you take the flack. What does that tell you about who you work for?

Or…is it that you are in fact the elusive Angela Penbrook in disguise? Is this beginning to cost you money? Are you starting to get unwanted attention and now you are beginning to get stressed? Why else would ‘YOU’ try to bring legal action against me. Hmmm…I would think that would be a decision of Angela Penbrook. Unless they, she, it, he, whoever, and you are one and the same individual. Only you know.

As far as me distributing anything of yours. Guess again. I do not have anything that belongs to you. I only have knowledge. And it does not belong to you. Sorry. And that my friend is much more beneficial than any cheesy ebook that you are trying to scam the public out of $200 bucks for.

And I have to say, it is not much of one at that. 50 pages of regurgitated, recycled, replay information that anyone with any sense can find all over the internet for nothing. All you are teaching people is how to sell information as an affiliate for companies like clickbank. They can go to clickbank.com and learn everything in your very outdated ebook and more for free.

Pleeeeezzzzzz Joseph Ashford. You are no dummy. You already know this. Just clean it up. That is all people want. They want honesty, they want what they pay for. And if you have so many wanting refunds after the purchase. That should serve as a wake up call. It means that what you are selling is NOT worth what you are getting paid. So just do the right thing. If you offer a money back guarantee. Then honor it. If you dont want to give them their money back, then say so up front. It is real simple.

“THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT COME WITH A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE – BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK”

There! I will even let you copy and paste it onto your website without any threat of legal action or royalty fees. ;-) It should take you about 5 seconds.

I know there are crooks out there who want to steal your money or product. After all, we are all hear now discussing one. So I know how tough it can be. But just treat people the way you want to be treated. Lay it out up front and center and stop trying to hide in the cracks and behind websites.

OK? Deal???? I promise if you will clean this up. People will stop throwing rocks at your offer.

So tomorrow if I look at your website, you will have had time to tell people there is no money back guarantee. And that will end all of this. But don’t be surprised if people still want their money back for misrepresentation. But that is a different subject.

    Carl Cash
    http://www.littleguynetwork-x.com

PS. But just for your information, I am not going to look at your website because if you read my post on this thread dated April 19, You will read how your site put an advertising malware virus on my machine that I found out by accident. Which again is pretty sneaky. That is how you manage to get your offer in front of so many people. If they don’t buy the first time, you just worm your way into their machine to come up uninvited while they are doing other things at a later time. Again, CLEAN IT UP.

If the company that you work for was for real, these sites wouldn’t have to be created to help others get there money back that you stole from. I almost spent $197 today, but I thought let me do a quick Google…I just saved myself $197.

I asked one time if I was talking to a computer because I kept getting the same old responds. I asked her if she was english or what? Still the same old responds. I never signed up with them. If they can not answer a simple question about how the program works, they can keep their program. I’ve learned my lesson in the past with these people.
Thank you though, for answering the questions I asked them.

I assure you that every person here from the person on the phone at 1 866 885 8126 to me are dedicated to refunding you your money if you’re not satisfied. I have worked very diligently to refund as many people as I can. I am the customer care manager, not a refund processor, however as some people here may know I have provided them refunds. There are some refunds that were not processing thanks to processor error and typos from customers. Over half of the customers that I attempted to refund, had incorrect zip codes. So please, know that we are handling this situation with the utmost respect.

  26. Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing with this scam site with this person who calls themselves Angela Pembrook. And just a quick word about refunds. The best thing you can do after you find you were robbed is to contact your bank and file a statement of objection for the charge as soon as possible. Do not wait to see what the scamming merchant is going to do first. They are not going to be too cooperative over this because they do NOT want to return your money.

And one more thing. Here is a tip I learned from the bank also. You only have a limited amount of time to object to the charge. And sometimes the website owner (Angela Pembrook) will deliberately stall for time, hoping to get past the deadline cutoff period. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. If you will go back and read all the posts in this thread again. You will notice nearly without exception everyone who has managed to get a refund has done so after first, running – not walking to the bank and filing the complaint and objection. And then calling Angela Pembrook customer service and telling them you have already filed the complaint and that it would be in their best interest to immediately refund the money.

They are not stupid. They know how it works. And they realize they do have a chance to keep your money. But if you wait, especially now with all of the work Joe is doing with this website to get the word out, they could just decide to pull the plug, take all the money and run. Then you will never see it again. Do not wait. If you have been taken in by this sleezy little snake in the grass, and you are “waiting to see what happens”. Stop waiting- call your bank right now.

And one more thing, I got an email from Joe (the webmaster who operates this website and thread) He is doing a great job. And is determined to bring the Angela Penbrook scam to the floor. If you get a chance, be sure to leave a comment to say thanks. Even if you don’t have any intentions of coming back. The more people leave comments, the higher this thread will rank in the search engines and the more people who will actually see it. That can be your own way of helping to strangle this con artist dead in their tracks.

    Have a great day.

  27. I have to admit that I was very close to signing up for Angela Penbrook’s (“Angel Stevens”) services. They sure sounded promising and exciting! But, I am a skeptic and read ALL of the fine print before I pressed the “click here to join risk free” button. It’s pretty ironic but in the fine print- there is NO mention of any companies such as Home Depot, BlockBuster, etc. I didn’t even understand what it was talking about. It’s pretty interesting (and funny) if any of you would like to read it. Thank you for all of your insights to this SCAM- I wish everybody could read things like this before losing money. If things seem “too good to be true” chances are- THEY ARE!!

  28. I got my refund credited back to my credit card. I notified my credit card first to attempt to stop payment. They said it had to be posted prior to dispute. I called 800-785-8042 and spoke with someone who could not speak english well at all. I informed them that I had already filed a dispute and wanted a refund. The lady said it would take 5-7 days and then said she was directing me to her supervisor who never showed. The refund was posted to my credit card the same day. I have to change my credit card to number to avoid any future attempts by this fraud. She has many sites.

  29. This Joseph Ashford called me yesterday about my refund and was supposed to call me back later on. I called the phone number he left me on the message 949-706-3183 this morning and got a voice message. I left my information on this voice mail. They also give you a Customer Care number to call which I have called at least twice before and have not seen any results. I would suggest everyone call the number above and leave a message for this Joseph Ashford about receiving a refund. He sounded very cooperative but it remains to be seen if he will come through with the refund. Going back through the credit card company before the charges are on there 60 days is most likely the better option to get your money.

  30. I was so taken by this lying, cheat…. I wanted to have an honest work at home ‘job’ I paid the $197 up front just to read the scam.. I responded directly by phone and by email 4 times demanding a refund, which the sites listed I would receive if I was not happy with her ‘product’. That was a month ago… when I was told it would be 5 to 10 business days!.. I’m still waiting for my money, that was the most money I’ve ever forked out just to read a site of scam!@

  31. my thinking is that there is no Angela Penbrook and there is a scam artist that is doing this. So why will the card companys
not work with their customers to protect them?

  32. Some of these scammers say you can try them “risk free” that is a lie.
If it were truly risk free, you would not need to provide a credit card for them to charge you BEFORE you get a chance to see if it is worth it.
Once they have your card, they can charge you and lots of luck getting your money back.
Or they can steal your identity.
Anytime they say “risk free” run the other way.

  33. Hey everyone,
I’ve exchanged a couple of e-mails with Joseph Ashford above. I’ll be interested to hear about your experiences getting refunds if you decide to take him up on his offer. As with any online transaction, be careful with your credit card numbers. The last 4 digits should be enough to identify your original purchase record.

  34. As some of you may realized, this is Joseph. I have talked to many of the customers that once purchased Penbrook Productions Process from Home. I do everything in my power to refund people. Sometimes it’s harder than others. If you still have not received a refund and demand one but refuse to talk to the customer care people who you talked to previously, please email me, and I will respond with 48 hours. Be it by phone or email. I am the Customer Care Manager, and I take my job very seriously and do it well. If you only want to tell me how crappy my employer is, there is no sense in you wasting my time. I need my time to help people get their money back not to read somebody’s
artistic way of using four letter words. my email address is

    ccm@penbrookproductions.com

I beseech you, email me so that we resolve this issue A.S.A.P.

    Very Respectfully,
    Joseph Ashford-

  35. First I’d like to say that I feel badly for all the good people that have been scammed, if it had not been for this site and you taking the time to warn others I would have been taken by this SCAM. I thank you.

  36. thanks for making this site…myself, i am financially strained at the moment and these online ‘work from home’ ads are very appealing…however, after looking at some of the sites (Angel Stevens), they seemed to be set up like many other scam sites, with many testimonials and not much concrete information…if there’s any advice i can give to someone who’s on the verge of buying a product online it’s this: the more testimonials you see, the more likely its a scam…also, the more links on the page that lead to another site selling something extremely similar, the more likely its a scam…thx guys

  38. Thanks so much to each and every one of you out there — without your info, I wouldn’t have even known where to call to try to get my money back, because the current e-mail I got from Angela Penbrook didn’t have any numbers listed at all. For those of you just starting this search, I recommend that you demand your money back right away, and hopefully they won’t take too long to give it to you. With that said, though, I will be checking my credit card bill closely, because one can’t be too careful.

Anyway, if you’r still trying to get your money back, here are my suggestions. Call one of the following phone numbers — I got through on the second number, so never got a chance to see if the other numbers are good as well, or whether you will land on a Porn Site or something worse if you try them. \

Once you reach a live body, insist on getting your money back immediately. Period.

I also told them I didn’t like being baited, and then having them send you something totally different than what was promised.

They will suggest that it takes 5-7 days to process their submissions and to credit my account. I don’t think that’s really true, so I will be checking next week to make sure that I got the money back that I am supposed to be getting. If I don’t get it from the company, you can bet I will be contacting the bank to be sure that I have a chance to challenge the charges.

    1-800-785-8042
    1-866-885-8126
    1-888-514-6001
    1-888-225-0068

Anyway, thanks to everyone out there who has been scammed by these lovely two ladies. I appreciate your moral support, and will let you know when/if I ever see any money.

    Thanks so MUCH!!!!

  39. hi everyone,
first , i’m so sorry to read all these comments of good people being burnt by sleazy con artists. i actually had my debit card #’s filled out b-4 i took a break to think about why i would pay anyone to work. then googled ms. skank to find the truth ,joe u made my favorites list with a bullet. i’m glad some have recieved refunds from the banks & cc companies though this ,like insurance only further distributes the burden of payingback lost profits onto everyone who is not a member of the elite class. you all saved me $197 i dont have & i thank u all endlessy for sharing the truth. i can only hope that one day some one gets close to shake her hand & chooses to do something else.

  40. Thank God for Google and this website. I too was about to purchase this program, when something in the back of my mind told me to “google it” and I found this site! I am a single mother of 3 children and really don’t have that kind of money to give away! But her pitch was sooo convincing, I was close to using up all my money I had left to purchase it. Thank you to for providing a site that provides “real” feedback from “real” people. For those of you who paid for this program, I am deeply sorry, but don’t give up on getting your refunds. It is very sad that there are people out there preying on others who are struggling as it is!

  41. Hi everyone!

I very nearly fell for this ruse, but checked with google first and, of course, found this site – thankfully! I think the reason I was sucked in was due mainly to the fact that the scammer site was accessed through a legitimate one ie “Careerbuilder”. It gave it a certain amount of credibility that it would not otherwise have had. If we contact the “Careerbuilders” and other legitimate sites and ask them to be a little more discriminating in their choices of advertisers, we may prevent other job seekers from being unfairly duped!

    Just a thought!

    thanks

  42. Thank you so much for this information. I was ALMOST taken in by this one. Like the rest of you, I was just looking for a way to bring in a little extra cash (with the gas prices the way they are!) I am so embarrassed that I almost got sucked into this. Also very glad I Googled her name and found this site. Thanks again.

  43. Like Wendy (March 28th) I read about “Angel Stevens” and her #1 “work from home” rebate processing business from SiteReviewAuthority.org. This website touted itself as being a “watchdog” group that actually bought these offers and had weeded through the scams for us (how very kind of them!) Knowing how grateful we would all be for their hard work they even had a link at the bottom of the page where you could contribute to their company via paypal! They also had a 1-800# that you could call to report online scams. Having been “scammed” in the past I decided to call their 800# just to see what I got and low and behold the first red flag was raised. The “scam reporting” number required an “access code” to go further. I was going to go to their website to report their 800# problem but went first to Angel Stevens #1 “non scamming” site to see what it was all about (making money being a higher priority than reporting a bad 800#). I must admit she had me going. Other than a few typos (which was another red flag) I was quite taken in by what she had to offer. I did find it interesting that she used her “SiteReviewAuthority” #1 ranking to further validate her “legitimate business” and I will admit to thinking that that seemed fishy to me. I must say her pitch was a good one and I found myself thinking that this may be the answer, mostly because I really wanted it to be! Having been around a few internet corners I knew better than to send my money without googling this person just to see what other informaion I could find and I am so very grateful to have found this site. It is criminal what these people are doing and it saddens me that so many are hurt from it. Some lessons in life are very unfair, but lessons none the less. Thank you for this forum Joe, you are one of the good guys.

  44. Well its true look it up your self all this info ive provided has been posted elsewhere as well…it is only a matter of time before people figure him out. At the very least he has something to do with it. And I dont care if you think it is wrong… the fbi or whoever has better things to do than help us with this scam, so I put the info out there and I will let the people see for themselves.
