20 Ways Streamers Are Making Money On Twitch

Ever find yourself watching a video of someone playing a video game and wondering if you can make money on Twitch?

It sounds like a dream come true, doesn’t it?

Well, it’s not a dream anymore. It’s now a reality. People have found out how to make money on Twitch just by streaming their gaming sessions.

With Twitch.TV, you can join 3.8 million broadcasters and live stream anything from you playing your favorite game to a tutorial on how to assemble a computer table Ikea-style to more than 15 million daily viewers.

As of 2022, Twitch is the number one esports live streaming service in the world.

It beats direct competitors Facebook Gaming, YouTube Gaming, and Caffeine by a long shot.

And streamers are leveraging the power of the platform to make more money than ever thought possible.

How Much Money Do Twitch Streamers Make?

Making money with Twitch can be impressively lucrative, especially if you’ve got the right mix of personality, skills, and luck.

For example, popular Twitch streamer Ninja (real name: Tyler Blevins) has previously revealed that he earns around $500,000 per month from Twitch Prime subscriptions, sponsorships, and partnerships, as well as YouTube revenues from his 5 million subscribers.

Note that Ninja has been livestreaming since 2008.

Ninja Twitch Streamer

For a time, Ninja exclusively streamed on Twitch’s rival Mixer (now Facebook Gaming). He has since returned to Twitch with a multiyear exclusive deal. He’s now worth upwards of $25 million, so he’s not doing too bad.

Not everyone will be pulling that kind of money, of course. But it’s still possible to earn some money.

How much cash you can make through livestreaming will depend on your popularity, number of subscribers, type of content streamed, and the monetization option you choose.

7 Ways to Monetize a Twitch Account

Here are all the possible ways you can make money from your Twitch account. The next section will show you just what some of the most popular and highest earning Twitch streamers are doing to earn their views.

1. Donations

Donations may seem like an insignificant monetization option, but imagine having a million followers who all decide to each donate a dollar within a span of 30 days.

You’d be a millionaire in a month, just from the donations.

Realistically, though, only a few of your viewers will donate, so keep this as a secondary option for income and don’t depend on this too much.

2. Affiliate marketing

Another common way to monetize your Twitch account is by joining various affiliate programs and promoting other companies’ and people’s products and services.

You do this by displaying a customized link to a site where your viewers can make a purchase. For every purchase coming from a click to your custom link, you’ll get a percentage of the cost.

This is different from the Twitch Affiliate Program, which you’ll learn about below.

3. Sponsorships

If a brand is impressed with your content and happens to have the same target audience as your videos, they might ask to sponsor a livestream or two (or two dozen, if you’re really good) so you can get paid to promote their brand to your viewers.

To be seriously considered for sponsorship, whether one-off or long-term, you’ll need to have a huge fan base with specific demographics that appeal to a certain brand. Plus, you’ll need to maintain a solid, reliable reputation.

As you know, these don’t come overnight; it takes a lot of work and a lot of livestreams to build a fan base and a good reputation.

Once you have these, though, it can really open up a huge source of steady income for you.

4. The Twitch Affiliate Program

Twitch sends an invitation e-mail to any streamer who has been working consistently to produce content.

Those with at least 50 followers and over the last 30 days have had: an average of 3 (or more) simultaneous viewers, at least 500 minutes total broadcast, and at least 7 unique broadcast days can get an invitation email from Twitch to be part of the Twitch Affiliate Program.

Once you become an affiliate, you can earn by accumulating “Bits” or when people subscribe and support your channel.

You also have the chance of earning from game sales and in-game items that originated from your channel.

5. Twitch Subscriptions

Once you’re a Twitch Affiliate, your viewers can subscribe to your Twitch channel.

Subscribing to a Twitch channel is more than just following; it’s following with added monetary support.

There are three subscription tiers currently available to users: $4.99, $9.99, and $24.99 monthly subscriptions.

Twitch has partnered with Amazon to offer Prime Gaming, which viewers can use to subscribe to a channel of their choice for free.

What do viewers get from their subscriptions? They get unique emotes (or emoji), badges, special alerts, ad-free viewing, exclusive chatrooms, and exclusive competitions.

Which viewers are willing to pay subscription fees? Your genuine fans who truly like and appreciate the content you’re offering.

As for you as a streamer, subscriptions are a good, steady way to make money on Twitch. Also, it’s a good incentive to keep creating content.

Twitch keeps 50% of the fee and the Twitch Affiliate or Partner gets the other 50%.

6. Ad revenues

Twitch affiliates can earn money with shares in the advertisement revenue generated from video ads shown during their streams.

There’s no set income earned this way, but as a streamer’s followers increase, so will their ad shares.

Traditionally, video ads on Twitch streams are disruptive, but Twitch is introducing changes to make advertising on Twitch beneficial to everyone: advertisers, streamers, viewers, and Twitch, of course.

Twitch affiliates (and partners) are now allowed to take ad breaks and show ads via picture-by-picture so viewers don’t miss any of the gaming action. Enabling ad breaks would also allow streamers to disable pre-roll ads, that is, video ads that play before every stream, for a certain amount of time.

This is similar to the primary way of making money on YouTube, which is through ads. There are also a few other ideas listed there that could possibly be used to make money on Twitch as well.

7. The Twitch Partner Program

Twitch Reach

Any Twitch streamer who aims to make it big in the site dreams to be accepted into this program.

Unlike their Affiliate Program, the Twitch Partnership program is exclusive. You’d have to send an application for Twitch to check if your channel is qualified.

There are no published, set criteria on how Twitch Partners are selected, although they are known to consider content quality, average viewership, your engagement with your viewers, and stream frequency and consistency (that is, can they expect new content from you every week on a certain day?).

When you do make it as Twitch Partner, you’ll reap all the benefits offered to affiliates, plus live chat privileges, custom emoticons and prefixes, verified user badges, and other exclusive-to-partner perks.

20 Ways You Can Make Money on Twitch

Below are 20 ways people are making money on Twitch to give you some ideas on how you could start and what kind of niches are available on the site.

If you’re just starting out, try and remain mindful of the type of monetization path you’d like to pursue down the line.

Make sure you keep your content relevant to that path to further your chances of succeeding.

1. Live video game, “Let’s Play” style

Twitch.TV is first and foremost the home of esports, so expect the competition among gamers to be fierce.

But if you’ve mastered a particular game and have a unique personality, there’s a good chance you’ll succeed in competing with older, more popular streamers.

The best thing about Twitch is that anyone can do it. Take Mackenseize, for example – she’s been diagnosed with a seizure disorder as a teen.

Now, even if the 29-year-old Hearthstone streamer seizes every once in a while during a stream, her 37,000+ followers continue to support her with every game she explores.

2. Speedrun

Speedrunning is the same as livestreaming any game, except that the goal of “speedrunners” is to complete an entire level or a whole game as quickly as possible.

TheMexicanRunner, for example, is a hardcore speedrunner for classic games and has made a huge following with his NESMania quest, wherein he tries to finish every officially licensed game from the original Nintendo Entertainment System at record-breaking speeds.

Super Mario Twitch

3. Talk shows and podcasts

Twitch.TV also has streamers who host talk shows on gaming, where they talk about various games, review them, talk about the latest news, gossip, and issues about the gaming industry, and maybe even interview guests and hold round-table discussions.

Other talk shows on Twitch do not focus on gaming.

For instance, ComedyHub is a live comedy club featuring shows created by the best up-and-coming comedians.

TheHarryHorrorShow features true crime, conspiracy theories, and paranormal phenomena.

Because more and more people and content creators are staying at home these days, expect Twitch to have more and more talk shows covering a variety of topics.

4. Play casino games

If you’re not a fan of video games and instead prefer playing poker and other casino games, there’s a special place for you on Twitch.TV.

Whether you’re a fan of slots, poker, or roulette, there’s room on Twitch.TV for you.

The most popular Twitch casino streamers as of 2021 include ROSHTEINTrainwreckstv, and DeuceAce.

5. Radio-style stream

It’s not as popular as esports, but the Twitch Music category is a goldmine for anyone looking to create content or just chill.

Aside from taking advantage of the Twitch Music Library, which houses precleared music for Twitch broadcasters to use in their livestreams, you can also discover other streamers like NoCopyrightSounds who are focused on providing non-stop music to the Twitch community.

Of course, if you have the resources, you can always copy the success of legit radio-style streaming channels of Monstercat, SpinninRecords, and RelaxBeats, among many others.

6. Perform music

When the Music category was first launched in 2016, Steve Aoki, T-Pain, Deadmau5, and other EDM artists supported Twitch and the users embraced them wholeheartedly.

Today, big-name artists like Kanye continue to use the platform as a way to promote their music, increase followers, or simply chill with the Twitch community.

Even if big-ticket artists are sure winners on Twitch, it shouldn’t be stopping anyone with real musical abilities to earn money from Twitch, or even making it big.

There are plenty of hidden gems on Twitch, such as husband-and-wife gamers/musicians Travis and Allie of a_couple_streams, Kyle Landry’s Piano Madness, and a whole lot more.

7. Livestream your art

If musicians can livestream their music, graphic artists can also livestream their art on Twitch.

The Art category on Twitch is one of the most interesting non-gaming categories on Twitch, featuring artwork on different media, physical as well as digital, being created live while audiences watch.

Some watch to relax, others want to learn new techniques they can incorporate in their work, and still others like to see their favorite video game characters or worlds come to being as tangible artwork.

If you do plan to do this, make sure that your “info” section has relevant information and links to your portfolio so that your subscribers can find your other artwork.

Also, if you have a shop where they can buy your art, it’s also important to link to it so they can buy your art.

8. Make crafts

You can find streamers making all kinds of crafts under the Makers & Crafting category.

If you sew or make your own costumes for your cosplay, assemble your own gaming computers, or create jewelry or accessories, this might just be a video category you can get on board with.

Considering this is still primarily a video gaming stream site, you can make more money on Twitch if your crafts are related to games. Not only will more people view your videos, but they’re also likely to buy what you’ve made.

9. Play Magic: The Gathering

The cool thing about livestreaming is that even physical games like Magic: The Gathering can be broadcasted from your home.

And if you’ve been a master-gamer of Magic since it was launched in the early 90s, you can still bring out your card collections and revive the glory of competing against other Magic fans.

However, playing the digital version of Magic: The Gathering, Arena, has been more popular in recent years, enabling gamers who aren’t in the same location to stream their game.

Interested in joining Twitch.TV and earn money from your Magic: The Gathering skills, but don’t know where to start?

Check out the channels of LSV, Caleb Durward (CalebD), and Kenji (NumotTheNummy), and see how you can stream your own MTG plays and actually make money.

10. Live IRL

Twitch IRL Streaming

Twitch opened the IRL category to a ton of criticisms, but once the initial shock has passed, many existing Twitch streamers welcomed the idea and use it themselves for downtime, non-game streaming.

Within the IRL category, gamers could eat, sing, craft, cook, play sports, and do other activities without being reprimanded for doing so in their respective game-specific category.

Since then, the IRL category has broken into different categories, but you can still tag videos as IRL.

IRL streams can be anything under the sun. Here are multiple examples that actually happened on Twitch IRL streams:

  • Kitboga calls IRS, tax, virus, and other scammers and plays along for hours. He uses a voice changer to get into full characters like old-lady Edna and fools scammers for as long as possible.
  • Someone doing math homework
  • A guy assembling an Ikea closet
  • Someone decorating a Christmas tree
  • Architect designing a house
  • Bounty hunters who livestream while working
  • Someone who made two Google Homes talk to each other for hours
  • A garbage collector streaming his job on a regular day
  • Japanese man going to his local barber, eating out, and taking his viewers to interesting parts of his city
  • An Arby’s employee who streams his entire shift

As you can see, IRL is the most flexible and fastest-growing tag yet still provides a way to make money on Twitch.

As long as you go live with your idea and give it your all, you’d be surprised that there will always be a market for anything streamed.

People generally want to be entertained, taught to do things visually, or just get a good laugh from something totally random.

11. “Just chat” with your viewers

A natural offshoot of the IRL category is the “Just Chatting” category.

Just Chatting videos are exactly what they sound like; it’s you just talking to your viewers and subscribers.

You can try to share your views about the latest news about the topic of your streams, educating people about certain issues that are near to your heart, or maybe even just funny stories.

Even merely asking how they are, answering their questions, asking them questions, and at times merely acknowledging your lurkers (i.e., those in the chat, watching but not commenting for various reasons) can increase engagement with your community, keep them coming back, and spread the word to new viewers.

Aside from your regular content on your channel, having a stream under the “Just Chatting” category every once in a while can boost your popularity, and thus your earnings.

12. Cook food (and eat it!)

Another popular non-gaming Twitch category is the Food & Drink category that has all kinds of food prep, meal prep, cooking, baking, and all other videos related to food.

Videos under the former category Social Eating remain tagged as such but seem to have been lumped in this category as well, where streamers eat live on camera and share their meals with the community.

13. Create ASMR-trigger videos

ASMR on Twitch is a bit controversial, and we’ll get into why in a bit.

What is ASMR anyway, and why has this content been popular in recent years?

ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is a complicated emotional state elicited in certain people when they hear, see, or feel certain triggers.

Not all people experience this, though, but enough people do such that it surged into popularity first on YouTube, and then on Twitch.

People who experience ASMR report a general feeling of “tingling” and then calm and relaxation, which is useful for those who have anxiety or insomnia.

But how can such a thing be controversial?

ASMR can be experienced by people differently, and some sights and sounds in ASMR videos may be erotic to some.

Creators of ASMR videos are aware of this and may sometimes amp up the “sensual” aspect by dressing and posing suggestively or by naming their videos with titillating titles.

If you post quality content, though, and you listen to your audience’s feedback about your content and what they want more of (as well as what they want less of), it’s a good category to start making money on Twitch.

14. Go to work and make money on Twitch

Esports

The majority of game streamers on Twitch have some sort of IT-related jobs or skills.

There’s a huge demand for game development tutorials, so if you’ve got the patience, talent, communication skills, and passion to teach programming, coding, web development, photo/video editing, robotics, or any other tech topics, you’re good to go.

Twitch is where it’s at.

This also goes for specific programs.

For example, if you have advanced knowledge of Blender (the 3D modeling software), you can stream how you do things and you’d be surprised at the interest these streams bring.

If you’re under 20, you might want to check out our list of online jobs for teens for some ideas on jobs you could potentially stream from the comfort of your home.

15. Wrestle

If you don’t know it yet, Twitch.TV has been promoting professional wrestling in recent years.

They’ve got several big companies already involved and have partnered with the likes of IMPACT! Wrestling and House of Hardcore to grow a Twitch community around wrestling.

Twitch even joined WrestleCon, giving its partners like Tangent access to stream the slams, dives, and global wrestling action live and share it with other fans.

If you’re a fan, don’t miss Knokx Pro Wrestling Academy’s Twitch channel, where you can watch streamed pro wrestling and listen to the input from the crowds watching to influence matches.

You can definitely get some ideas on how you can run your own wrestling channel there.

16. Slots

In late 2022, Twitch has announced a partial gambling ban, targeting slots, roulette and dice games. The Amazon-owned livestreaming platform barred videos of gambling sites not licensed in the US or “other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection

Ironically, one of the top 10 categories on Twitch is slots. Curious how this works? Check channels like CasinoDaddy and TySlotFather.

17. Sleep Streams

Sleep streamers are exactly what they are – live streamers who broadcast live footage of themselves sleeping.

When Amouranth (one of the most popular women Twitch streamers around) visited the Iced Coffee Hour podcast, she revealed that she can make up to $15,000 from a sleep stream.

She’s not alone though. Kai Cenat made thousands of dollars sleeping earlier in 2023 as well.

If you wish to try this, make sure you don’t place your stream under any categories like Just Chatting. Leave it under no category to prevent having any issues.

18. Live shopping

Livestream shopping, or live video commerce, combines the immersive experiences of in-store shopping with the convenience and reach of online shopping.

Doing shoppable livestream means you unbox products, talk about services, and do hands-on demonstrations, while your viewers ask questions and make purchases—all in real time.

19. Teach

If you’re not a fan of games and fooling around, you can always stream serious stuff, like courses and online learning.

Figure out something you’re good – this can be anything from playing an instrument, doing arts or crafts, cooking, baking, bread-making, or other highly-technical topics like appliance electronics, and so on.

Make a plan on how to present your DIY program, and wait for subscribers. You have a choice to do one-on-one or group lessons.

20. Play Dungeons and Dragons

Who knew a game like Dungeons and Dragons can be a hit on Twitch?

Critical Role, for example, is one of the highest paid Twitch streamers around. This profile is made up of a 30+ group of professional voice actors who create well produced Dungeons and Dragons content and provide value for money.

The team has been together since 2015, but have only been streaming on Twitch since 2018.

Critical Role streams range from 3 to 6 hours, but they only stream once a week. This, however, doesn’t stop over 35,000 people from watching those streams on a weekly basis.

It’s Never too Late to Make Money On Twitch

The best thing about Twitch is that it’s free to use for all.

You don’t have to set out to make money on Twitch, but why not create an account, start streaming while you game or do your other activities, build a following, and see what it turns into?

You could try and land a beta tester jobs or a video game tester job and stream yourself at work. Who knows, you may be the next hottest Twitch streamer!

How to Make Money with LEGO Brick by Brick

There are a lot of enterprising and interesting ways to make money in our modern world, but can you really make money with LEGO?

LEGO may have started off as a way to stop blocks from falling over, but it has grown into a multibillion-dollar industry, with commercial tie-ins and plenty of competitors.

Fueling the growth of LEGO is a combination of adult and child fans, both clamoring to get the latest Star Wars or Harry Potter versions of the plastic toys.

There are actually a few ways that you can turn this to your advantage and make money with LEGO.

10 Ways to Make Money with LEGOs

Many in the LEGO community know that there are several income streams possible in the Brick-building world.

But if you’re new to LEGOs or  trying to find a hobby that can turn into a money-making opportunity,

1. Speculate in LEGO

Is LEGO better than stocks?

The most common way people are making money with LEGO is through speculation.

The idea is that you buy and hoard LEGO sets when they first come out, or better yet when they are on sale.

If and when the LEGO set becomes discontinued, you can sell the set for a price much higher than what the original set cost.

Profits on these sets can be staggering when looked at in relation to standard stocks.

Let’s take the 10179 Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon. When it was released in 2007, it sold for $499.99 in 2005. Today, a new, unopened set has a value of approximately $2,999.20, which means it has a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 14.78%!

What sells?

The thing about speculation is that you need to make sure what you’re purchasing to store will actually sell in the future.

As such, most LEGO investors focus on popular items such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, and other popular films and franchises.

This doesn’t mean you can’t find other sets to purchase though. There’s a market for architectural LEGO sets as well as some of the more obscure ones.

The main thing here is to do your research. Using sites like BrickPicker and BrickEconomy can help you find trends and ideas, as well as monitoring marketplaces like eBay.

Where to sell

The main place to sell pristine condition LEGO sets is eBay. It’s popular, safe, and easy to use. Of course, they take a slice of the pie, but for the security you get versus selling directly, it’s worth it.

As an alternative, you could use BrickLink or Brick Owl, which are marketplaces for selling LEGO sets and pieces.

Things to keep in mind

There’s actually a whole bunch of things you need to be aware of before starting your LEGO speculation career:

1. Condition – Any LEGO set you buy, store, and intend to sell in the future has to be in perfect condition. This means your storage area has to be climate-controlled or at the very least moisture- and rodent-free.

2. Storage – Aside from keeping your sets in top condition, you need to make sure that you actually have enough room to store everything. LEGO sets are bulky and the largest (and potentially most profitable sets) can be positively huge. A garage-sized space can be enough to get you started.

3. Depreciation – Like with any investment, there is the chance that the price can drop. All it takes is for you to either pick the wrong set or for LEGO to reintroduce a set to see your profits disappear.

4. Shipping – Depending on how you sell the sets, shipping and packaging costs need to be considered. For the most part, these can be put on the buyer, but even if they are, you still need to physically pack and ship the sets, which takes time and space, as well as some upfront costs.

2. Salvage LEGO Bricks

If you don’t have the capital or the storage space to buy and store brand new, mint condition LEGO sets, you can always go the “salvager” route.

Here, you look to buy LEGO bricks in bulk lots from other people through yard sales, Craigslist, eBay, etc.

You can then sort the pieces by color, size, and shape. You can then organize them into sets that you can sell for a profit.

It’s sort of retail arbitrage with LEGO bricks.

If you have used but complete sets (make sure they’re complete by looking at their building instructions online), these can be sold for even more. You won’t get to sell these for the same price as pristine sets, though, unless it’s a very rare set.

This method takes up much more time but is offset by the generally lower cost of bulk purchases and the fun that you can have sorting the LEGO bricks.

LEGO hoarding

Things to keep in mind

1. Time & space – As I mentioned, sorting LEGO bricks and assembling them into smaller sets will take time. Also, you probably won’t need garage-sized storage space but you’ll still need to have some space to place your LEGO bricks in.

2. Local isn’t always good – Even if you live in an area with many LEGO enthusiasts, you may need to have to look elsewhere for good-quality LEGO bricks.

3. Ask for more info – If you’re buying a bulk lot of LEGO bricks, make sure to ask if the seller knows what’s in it. This can help you determine the value, especially if there are some popular sets.

3. Get Paid to Design New LEGO Sets

If speculating or thrift-shopping LEGO doesn’t interest you, but you love building different things from basic LEGO blocks, then you should probably consider designing new LEGO sets.

LEGO themselves make this almost absurdly easy with their LEGO Ideas website.

The way it works is that you first create a new LEGO set from actual, currently available LEGO bricks or a virtual building tool, and then submit it to the LEGO Ideas site.

People then come and support your idea, and once your idea reaches 10,000 supporters, it will then be flagged for expert review.

The review process is done by LEGO employees and there’s no guarantee that your set will be chosen, but if it is they will actually make the set for sale!

So how do you make money with your LEGO idea?

Well according to the LEGO Ideas site, if your idea is chosen you will receive:

1% of the total net sales of the product (this includes projects featuring original models based on third-party intellectual property such as a game, TV show, or movie).

1% might not seem like much, but consider the size and scope of LEGO’s consumer base and price structure of sets (even small simple ones sell for $10 or more), and you can see that this has the potential to be a very good, not to mention passive, money-spinner.

Of course, getting your ideas selected in the first place is the hard part, but if you have the skills and enjoy building new creations anyway, it’s worth submitting them.

4. Create With LEGO Bricks

If designing isn’t your strong suit, don’t fret! There are other ways to earn money with your LEGO building skills.

Become a LEGO Master Builder

Who knew you can make a living from constructing stuff with LEGO bricks?

LEGO employs Master Model Builders, who build those large-scale, detailed sculptures in LEGO retail stores, Discovery Centres, special events, and LEGOLAND theme parks.

You get to play with LEGO bricks all day, and that sounds like a dream job, but you rarely get to be a master builder on the spot. You usually start as a model gluer and work your way up to master builder.

Also, the pay isn’t that glamorous. Master model builders earn around $37,500 per year. It isn’t life changing, but the fact that you get paid to play with LEGO bricks all day probably makes up for it.

Become A LEGO Artist

More and more people are using LEGO bricks outside of their general use case to make money.

People are creating art and even furniture with LEGO. Artists like Sean Kenney and Bruce Lowell command high prices for their unique works of art.

Businesses often want custom pieces done, and there are enough geeks and LEGO aficionados out there to create a decent-sized market for your potential work.

5. Work for LEGO

If you are dead serious about your LEGO obsession, then why not browse LEGO’s career board?

You can do more than just build as you can help shape and design the future of the company.

You can also work at any of the LEGOLAND locations like California, Florida, or New York.

6. Build a LEGO Artist

It may seem like the same thing as LEGO builder, but what I’m referring to as a LEGO artist is someone like Stefano Belcato.

Belcato is an Italy-based LEGO master who reimagines some of the most celebrated paintings from the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, Piero Della Francesca, and Andy Warhol into cool LEGO “paintings.” All the pieces Stefano creates feature LEGO minifigures as the models.

I’m not saying you should copy Belcato, but find a niche or style you can do to combine LEGOs with some kind of art medium.

7. Offer LEGO-themed Events

You can build massive LEGO-themed party décor, organize events and workshops dedicated to LEGO fans, and other similar  special occasions.

You can charge as an organizer, event venue decorator, host, or other roles depending on what you’d like to offer.

8. Build Your Own LEGO Subscription Box Business

If you’re into buy-and-sell or scavenging LEGOs, a subscription box business can be a perfect fit for you.

You don’t even need to have a brick-and-mortar store – you can totally run a subscription box business from the comfort of your own home.

You just need to have an eye for rare pieces, custom builds, and exclusive content that you can curate into a monthly box subscribers would go crazy for.

9. Provide LEGO Photography Services

If you have photography skills and a passion for LEGOs, you can mix these two and offer photography services for LEGO builders and LEGO businesses.

You can also take photos of LEGOs and minifigures from your own collection and sell your photos online.

10. Become a LEGO Blogger or YouTuber

Create content around LEGO on a blog or YouTube channel. Monetize through a wide range of platforms, such as:

  • Affiliate Marketing (promote LEGO products and earn a commission for each sale through affiliate links placed in your blog content).
  • Display Ads (monetize your blog by displaying advertisements from ad networks, earning revenue based on impressions, clicks, or a combination of both).
  • Sponsored Content (if you’re lucky, you can collaborate with LEGO or other brands in the LEGO industry for sponsored blog posts. In this kind of collaboration, you create content featuring their products in exchange for payment).
  • Memberships or Subscriptions (you can offer premium content or exclusive perks to subscribers who pay a membership fee, providing them with additional value and access. Membership platforms like Patreon work well for this route).
  • Sell Physical Products (you can open up a subscription box business within your blog, buy-and-sell rare LEGO kits, or create your own LEGO-inspired products to sell in your site).
  • Podcasting (you can start a podcast and monetize through sponsorships, ads, or premium content subscriptions for your podcast audience).

Having a LEGO-themed blog means you can also put a donation button, where visitors can voluntarily give you monetary donations “for a cup of coffee” or appreciation.

Yes, You Can Still Make Money with LEGO in 2024

While some people look upon LEGO as simply a child’s toy, others with vision are looking to turn a profit and even create a business from these simple bricks.

LEGO as a business does not look to be slowing down any time soon, and with new LEGO fans growing up with the cartoons and games, the opportunities for making money with LEGO are not abating.

What are you waiting for? Go and find your bricks!

How to Be a Movie Extra: 20 Casting Call Sites

Ever wondered how to be a movie extra, or in TV shows, commercials, music videos, theater productions, and other cool productions?

If you love everything about the entertainment industry and want to try your luck with movie extra jobs, this post is for you.

Today, you’re going to learn how to be a movie extra, where to find jobs, and what to expect when you go down this path.

What’s a Movie Extra?

What is a restaurant scene without waiters walking by and diners eating at the other tables?

What is a street scene without other pedestrians?

What is a football scene without spectators cheering their team?

They’re simply unbelievable. If these scenes are unbelievable, audiences are distracted and cannot immerse themselves in the movie or show.

Known as “atmosphere,” or “background actor,” an extra is someone who adds life and authenticity to a scene in a movie, TV show, stage, or any other production. These extras often have non-speaking characters and just pass by main characters, stay in the background, or serve as one person in a crowd.

Extras are especially valuable in war and historical films that typically require crowds numbering in the thousands.

How to Be a Movie Extra

Do You Need Acting Skills or Experience?

The best thing about movie extra jobs is that you don’t really have to audition for a role.

As such, regular folk like you and me can become an extra in a movie, as long as the casting director thinks we have the right look, hair color, height, size, and other physical characteristics they might need.

Requirements: Things You Need before Hunting Movie Extra Jobs

Before you find movie extra jobs, here are several things you should prepare (and don’t need to prepare):

1. Paperwork

Like most jobs, you’ll need to fill out an application to become a movie extra.

You’ll need proof of citizenship, IDs, filled-up tax forms, union details (if you’re a member), and so on.

2. Background check

In super-secret productions, background-checks may be part of the application process.

3. Headshots

Most of the time, the photos you bring won’t be needed because agencies and productions use Polaroids to document movie extras.

So if you’re thinking of investing in your headshots, you can skip it for now (do it when you decide to become a professional actor).

Get an Agent vs. DIY Job Hunt

In the past, the norm was to go to a casting agency, pay money upfront (about $20 to start), then wait for the agency to notify you about movie extra jobs.

As a rule, if you want to join a casting agency, go for those that do not charge a dime.

They may ask for a lot of requirements (ID, work permit, resume, etc.), but as long as no upfront fees are charged, then go for it!

With the internet and social media providing a venue for movie extra job hunters, it’s possible to find extra casting calls directly from casting directors and production companies looking to hire extras.

Most of the time, these production companies would email job details to casting agencies or post directly on online job boards.

Casting Calls America network is an IMDbPro listing partner, which means more producers and casting professionals are using the platform to find talent.

Note that paid membership is required at Casting Calls America.

20. StageMilk

Join the Club for just $7 and be part of a huge training program and community. Members of StageMilk review each others’ work regularly for everyone to improve their crafts.

This isn’t a job board like other casting call sites above, but I believe this is one of the most comprehensive guides on how to become a movie extra, TV actor, ad background actor, and other similar roles.

Depending on which casting site you joined, the application process may vary a bit. Most of these sites have a job board in place for you to check out current extra casting calls.

You’ll want to steer away from websites that charge you a monthly fee just to send you information on casting calls because it’s rarely worth it. You don’t get priority status anyway and you can find a lot of these casting calls on your own if you’re willing to do the work.

Sometimes, you can just follow their Facebook page, LinkedIn, Twitter, or other social media accounts and see extra casting calls posted there.

Apply and wait. If you receive a phone call, text message, or any communication from casting directors, then you’ve tackled the first phase.

What Extras Should Expect on Set

So let’s say you got the job.

What happens next?

If you’re lucky to receive a booking notice, this would detail everything from wardrobe to call time, makeup requirements, hairstyle, etc.

You’re probably going to be responsible for your hair and makeup, unless you’re working on a set like The Walking Dead (where extras require plenty of makeup/prosthetic work done), or Game of Thrones (where extras have to do costume and makeup first).

Here are some things that movie extras need to do and keep in mind:

  • Be on time – Background actors are easily replaceable. If you’re not on the set by the call time indicated, expect to be replaced.
  • Be ready to spend the whole day on the set – If you get hired as a movie extra on a certain day, make sure you free up the whole day. Production days ideally last for eight hours, but it could get longer for any number of reasons. Bring something to pass the time.
  • No phones allowed – Don’t bring your phones anymore, since they’ll most likely be put in a locker on closed sets, or kept turned off for security reasons.
  • Bring IDs and paperwork – Be sure to keep your IDs or other documentation ready to show when casting crews ask for them.
  • Take direction – Either the Second Assistant Director or the Wrangler will give you very specific directions: when to come out, where to go, how fast you should be going, your expression, etc. They’ll also tell you who you can and cannot speak to on the set.
  • Don’t lose your voucher – Every day that you work, you’re given a pay stub showing the number of hours you worked.

If you have a costume on or holding props for the scene, the crew might get this voucher from you as collateral, then give back your income voucher after returning the props.

If you worked in a SAG-AFTRA production, you get a SAG voucher. These are important for tax purposes, and the SAG vouchers are essential if you want to get a SAG-AFTRA card (more information below).

  • Don’t disturb actors or crew – Even if you’re a huge fan of the actors, directors, or anyone on the crew of a movie you’re assigned to, don’t bother them unless they initiate the conversation. This is a job, so they’re there to work just as much as you are.
  • Take the job seriously – If you’re lucky, the casting director may take notice of your work ethic and hire you there on the spot for future work.

Should I Join SAG-AFTRA?

SAG-AFTRA is a labor union representing film and TV actors, voice actors, radio professionals, artists, singers, broadcast journalists, and other media professionals.

As I mentioned above, when you work in a SAG-AFTRA production and the role you play is covered under a union contract, you get a SAG voucher. You can earn your SAG-AFTRA card when you get three SAG vouchers.

There are some pros and cons to consider before you decide to join SAG-AFTRA.

Having a SAG card means you get higher pay rates than nonunion movie extras and you’re eligible for bonuses or pay bumps for things like bringing your own props or having certain skills. Casting people also tend to hire SAG card-carrying extras.

But you can only maximize these benefits if you live in a city where plenty of SAG-AFTRA productions are made. Having a SAG card disqualifies you from working on nonunion productions and roles, which are more plentiful even if they do pay lower. SAG-AFTRA also requires a high initiation fee and annual dues.

How Much Do Movie Extras Make?

Half of the people who work as extras to do for fun and see how it feels like to be on “the big screen.” Half of the people who work as extras do it for extra cash. Regardless of which group you belong to, extras get paid an average of $100 to $200 per day as an extra on a movie.

However, there are things you should know about the income of movie extras:

  • Earn $800 or more if you land a speaking part
  • The first 2 overtime hours are usually paid 1.5x the hourly rate, while the next 6 hours after this are paid double time
  • If you’re still working at the 16th hour, you’ll receive your daily rate per hour.
  • Some productions offer bonuses for extras who don’t use their lunch breaks. (It’s illegal to not feed movie extras after working 6 hours straight since call time. Productions may pay penalties if they don’t follow this)
  • You’ll get paid mileage (around 50 cents per mile) for driving your car to the set. Your car can be turned into an extra too! And you’ll be paid additional for it!
  • Working as an extra in unfavorable environments (smoke-filled, water-filled, muddy, etc.) can give you additional take-home cash.

Can Working As A Movie Extra Lead to Other Acting Gigs Down the Road?

If you’re looking for information on how to be a movie extra because you’re planning to become a professional actor, being an extra shouldn’t be your first step.

Instead, find agency representation, which would work in finding you real acting jobs, voice acting jobs, brand ambassadorship gigs, and other media and acting jobs you have in mind.

In fact, many casting companies specializing in background actors remind these extras to lower their expectations. You looked for movie extra jobs, you applied, and you got the job.

As far as being seen, extras are literally the background for a movie, TV show, or any other production.

Forget about being discovered. Your chances of becoming a professional actor from your gig as an extra are slim to none.

Your next best bet is to land the job of a stand-in, or the person used as a substitute for the actor before the actual shoot.

Stand-ins are important since they help the production get the lighting, camera setup, and other technicalities perfect for filming without paying the main actors a premium and without wasting their time.

If you do love the industry and want to get more stable work as an extra, make sure to network in every production. Introduce yourself to the production assistants, crew, and other people involved in the production whenever there’s downtime.

Absorb everything you can about the production while you’re on set.

The bottom line is, be a good movie extra and it can open up more opportunities for you and make this a lucrative side gig.

How to Get Free Apple Products as a Tester

In the past, Apple product testing jobs were exclusive to quality assurance employees hired specifically to ensure all iMacs, iPhones, iPads, and other Apple gadgets are launched as minimally problematic as possible.

But as more and more big brands like Nike and retail giants like Amazon welcomed the idea of consumers actively participating in the development (and quality assurance) of products they love, Apple opened up its own testing programs as well. They even launched two types.

This post discusses both testing programs, how you could join, what to expect, and what NOT to expect (like free Apple products, because that doesn’t happen).

Two Types of Apple Product Testing Programs

I love product testing because I feel like I’m part of making history.

With the development of every version of iPad, or the first time Apple released its iPhone to the world, having been included in the quality control of such products (even if it were just a tiny part in the scheme of things) is still pretty cool.

When it comes to Apple’s product testing programs, you have two options:

  • AppleSeed Software Testing Program
  • Apple Beta Testing Program

Both programs focus on the software of Apple products. The hardware testing remains restricted to their carefully chosen employees who work at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Before you join, you must understand 3 things:

  • You will not receive a physical product when you join either program.
  • Because you’ll be testing software and not physical products, you may need to have access to a Mac, iPhone, AppleTV, or other Apple products whose software requires testing.
  • You will not be compensated for all your feedback.  Not even a cent.

If you’re still game and the fulfillment of helping out is payment enough for you, then go ahead and choose from these two Apple product testing

1. AppleSeed Software Testing Program

AppleSeed is Apple’s software testing program, often involves pre-release software like new iOS upgrades. When this program was first launched, it was open to anyone interested in joining. Today, AppleSeed is invite-only.

To show your interest…

  • Visit AppleSeed and sign up using your Apple ID. (Note that signing up to the program doesn’t guarantee you’ll get into it.)
  • You must first meet the requirements, and if you’re eligible for the program, you will receive an invitation. If you are invited, you must have a complete Apple profile (this includes your background info, interests, computing skills, and so on).
  • You will also be signing a confidentiality agreement (you know how secretive Apple is with their launches, right?)

Eligible participants are then directed to a forum, where all their feedback, errors, bugs, and other concerns experienced from testing the software will be shared. If you’re unable to explain your findings, you might be asked to fill up a bug report form.

2. Apple Beta Testing Program

The Apple Beta Testing Program works similarly to AppleSeed, except this program is OPEN TO EVERYONE, as long as you have an AppleID and own an Apple TV, iPhone, Mac, iPad, or any other Apple product. This program lets you try out upcoming iOs updates before it is released to the public.

To join:

  • Click “Sign up” and enter your AppleID and password. (If you don’t have an AppleID yet, you must “create one now.”
  • Enroll your device. Apple needs to know what device you’re going to use in testing the new software, so prepare to provide your device model number and other details about the device “tester.” No need to indicate your other Apple products that you won’t be using for the actual testing.
  • Prepare your device.  Back it up first before downloading’/installing new software. You won’t have control over unstable software, so you should have an option of restoring your device content, settings, or data in case something goes horribly wrong. Depending on what device you’re using, backing it up could involve saving your copy on iCloud or iTunes, or simply using the “Time Machine” program on Mac.
  • Install the software for testing.   Once Apple makes the Beta software available to testers, you’ll be able to see the software updates on your assigned device.    Find the download option, click “download” and wait for the download to finish.
  • Use your device.  The new operating system or software will be automatically updated into your device. By now, you only have to use your device normally.
  • Submit reports.  Whenever you encounter an error, bugs, broken features, or issues worthy of reporting, submit a report directly to Apple via the Feedback Assistant.

Apple Product Tester

Apple Product Testing Job Scams

Let me reiterate this one last time: Apple does not mail out physical hardware products to be tested.

If you’re desperate to receive a gadget or earn money from an Apple product testing job, you might fall into a trap of some product-testing scams.

Yes, these kinds of scams exist. Fortunately, they’re very easy to spot.

  • If a job listing says it is looking for people to test Apple hardware, this is a scam. The company doesn’t let outsiders test hardware of new products outside the company headquarters.
  • If the job recruiter is asking for your Apple ID and password before he/she “gives you the job,” this is a scam. In most cases, they’re trying to steal your account information and if you gave your Apple ID and password, you might just have handed those details over willingly.
  • If the job listing says you need to shoulder the shipping fee or pay a deposit to receive your Apple product for testing, this is a scam. You probably won’t receive anything. (and worse, you’ve given them your mailing address, too!)

If the recruiter asks you to fill out a form from a third-party website to receive an Apple product for testing, there’s a big chance that this is a phishing scam (a scheme to trick you into giving your personal information away unknowingly).

And lastly, if an e-mail, Facebook page, or anyone tells you that you won an Apple TV, iPhone, mac, and so on, but you didn’t join any raffle or promotions, this is most probably a scam, too!

Legit Ways to Earn Free Apple Products

For those whose goal is to receive a free Apple product, or earn from this effort, you can try 3 things:

1. Become a Tester for Betabound.

This company collaborates with Google, Amazon,  Apple, and other brands to find beta-testers who will try out their respective apps, software, and products.

It isn’t guaranteed that you’ll receive Apple products (but you’d have a bigger chance at receiving one from here than participating in either Apple product testing programs above).

2. Participate in tech communities, join contests, or guest-post on other blogs.

Join Facebook communities, subscribe to YouTube tech unboxing channels, read Apple-themed blogs like 9tomac and Macrumors, or big tech sites like Gizmodo.

If you join contests to win an Apple product, you’re probably not guaranteed to receive one.

But if you look for ways to get paid to guest post on other blogs and talk about Apple, you could use your earnings to buy yourself that Apple product you’ve been dying to have.

3. Build your own Apple-themed website/blog.

This is a long-term plan, but if you maintain a blog about Apple, its products, and everything in between, earn a couple of thousand readers/viewers, then your chances of being sent Apple products is a whole lot higher.

In addition to getting free Apple products to test, having a successful blog also gives you a chance to earn through:

  • Ads – Whenever you test products and blog about it, you can display ads on your blog post and earn income based on impressions, clicks, or other engagement metrics.
  • Affiliate marketing – Earn commissions by testing Apple products, then promoting the ones you deem worth your audience’s money. Include affiliate links in your blog content to generate revenue from sales.
  • Sponsorships – You can partner with other brands for paid content creation. The products or services you showcase can still be about Apple products, such as Mac accessories, iPhone/iPad cases, and more.
  • Memberships – Become an authority in Apple products, so people would want to pay for membership or subscription for a fee. In this member-only area, you provide premium content or exclusive perks for subscribers.

If you’ve already have a following on your blog, you can expand your online presence with podcasts, YouTube channels and social media platforms – all of which also have respective ways to earn extra income. It’s totally up to you if you’d like to work on all these platforms, or focus on just your blog.

4. Get a job at Apple.

Specifically on a hardware team.

Yes, this one is cheeky, but it’s the only way you’re actually going to get your hands on Apple prototypes.

5. Join Third-party Companies testing Apple Products

If you can’t land a  job at Apple’s hardware team, or get a gig testing Apple products from the methods above, your next best bet is to find a third-party company that exists to test Apple products.

A good example of this is AppleInsider.com, which is one of the most comprehensive Apple-focused blogs that talk about the highs and lows of Macs, iPhones, iPads, iPods, and every other Apple item.

Other Products to Test

20 Ways You Can Get Paid to Do Nothing

Isn’t it the ultimate dream to get paid to do nothing?

I mean, sure, we’ve all heard that you have to work hard to earn an income, and getting paid to do little more than breathe might seem like a far-fetched idea.

It certainly is if you’re hoping to make millions (unless you’re extremely lucky), but if your expectations aren’t that high, there are ways to earn money while not exerting a lot of effort.

Real Ways to Get Paid to Do Nothing

I’ve scoured online sources for legitimate ways to do this, and my searches have led me down some pretty weird paths.

But for the most part, I’ve come across amazing, if not unusual, opportunities that pay enough to help someone make ends meet or buy that new thing they’ve been saving up for.

Here’s a compilation of those opportunities that will let you make money by doing (practically) nothing.

Get Paid To Use (or Not Use) Your Phone

The internet has made it possible for lots of interesting new industries to pop up.

Some still require hard work, but others are so simple that you wouldn’t believe anyone can get paid to participate.

But they can and do.

The simplicity doesn’t overshadow the brilliance of it all, however. Because there are currently close to 5 billion active internet users.

That’s a big pool of people who can help a company in various ways if they know how to use them. And that’s exactly what companies did.

Check out some of the ways you can make money by simply using your phone:

1. Download Apps

If there’s one thing that’s easy to do, it’s downloading apps. And making money by doing almost nothing doesn’t come easier than this.

We use our phones almost every hour of every day anyway (well I do at least), and most of the time, there’s almost no effort involved in making some extra side cash by just clicking a button.

So I set out to find some companies that will pay people to download their apps.

Sounds too easy, right?

But I always make sure to look into whether these apps are trustworthy and if they really pay.

Some of the things I found:

If you’re keen on getting paid for doing absolutely nothing, then download and install Nielsen’s app right now.

They’re a consumer research agency and they will pay you $50 per year for simply downloading the app.

That isn’t your only option, however. There are plenty of ways to make money by using your phone.

In this article, I explain the example above in more detail and list more apps that let you make money by doing nothing.

2. Send Texts

Texting has taken over the world. I mean, who makes phone calls these days, right?

If you love texting over the phone then making money with it will almost be like second nature.

And I’ve got you covered here too.

Most people think that getting paid to text means they will have to resort to flirty texts and talking dirty to strangers. That’s definitely one way, and if you have no qualms about sending naughty texts to strangers then you can earn a decent income from it.

But as I explain in my article on easy ways to make money by texting, there are other great options out there that won’t make you feel uncomfortable.

You can text with ads, participate in network testing, and answer questions.

You don’t even have to get off your couch.

3. Unlock Your Phone

Yes, even unlocking your phone can earn you some cash.

You may not notice it because you’re not counting, but the average smartphone user unlocks their phone around 150 times a day.

So it’s not surprising that brands want access to your screen and show you ads, some of which can even be linked to a website or whatever they want you to see.

Lockscreen apps know this and connect advertisers with your phone; they get paid by advertisers and give you some of the profits in return for allowing them to access your lockscreen.

It’s a few cents a day, but they quickly add up, and it’s possible to get up to $40 a year for simply unlocking your phone.

Some of the apps that have a history of paying out include S’more, Mode Mobile, and ScreenLift.

4. Connect to the Internet

Who knew simply connecting to the internet can earn you money?

If you have an unlimited data plan or have plenty of data that you don’t use, Honeygain will pay you for your unused data.

The Honeygain app shares your internet securely without access to your personal data. They’re not mining cryptocurrency; they use your internet connection to run various search queries that their clients are interested in.

For instance, they run queries on Google and other search engines to help them with search engine optimization.

To start earning, simply install their app on your devices, connect your devices to the internet, and go about your life.

And when you don’t want to share your internet connection anymore, delete your account and the application from your devices.

If you have a good internet connection and you’re comfortable with letting someone else use it, downloading Honeygain allows you to get paid to do virtually nothing.

Get Paid While Living Your Life

We’ve all got to live somewhere, and we all have to sleep. But what if you could get paid to do exactly that?

It might seem crazy, but people are actually getting paid to simply do what they’re already doing.

Over the past year, I’ve scoured the internet and published multiple articles explaining how to make money by doing things like walking, reading, and sleeping.

Here they are, broken down for you so you can get started on making some extra cash just by living your life.

5. Watch People’s Houses

There’s a big market for house sitters right now, and plenty of opportunities all over the world for the right type of person.

People who own multiple properties or those who go on vacation a lot usually feel much better having someone take care of their empty house while they’re away.

Just take a look at some of the ways you can get a gig as a house sitter.

I also explain a bit about the industry and how to land your first house-sitting job.

6. Walk Around and Earn Money

Okay, this one has you actually getting up and moving, but come on, this is as easy as it gets.

Staying fit and getting paid for it?

What dream is this? Well it is real, and I’ve tested some of the best walking and fitness apps that pay, and they really do pay out in either cash or gift cards.

Here’s the whole list.

You won’t be getting rich, but it’s still an extra buck in your pocket that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.

7. Join a Sleep Study

Personally, I’d love to get a little bit more sleep.

But who wouldn’t?

Well, luckily, there is a way and I tried to find out as much as I could about it.

Check out what I found if you’re really in need of more sleep and keen to find a way to get paid to do literally nothing.

But do note that it isn’t a very big field.

So getting into a paid study to test your sleeping patterns might take some time or it might not happen at all.

But one can dream, right?

8. Get Paid to Listen to Music or Watch TV

Where would the world be without entertainment?

The average person spends at least a couple of hours a day either listening to music, or watching TV, or both.

And if you’re addicted to binging television shows or can listen to songs for hours on end, then this is perfect for you.

I’ve looked into some of the best money-making opportunities out there for both music and television.

The best part of all?

You really do get paid for doing practically nothing.

9. Read

I know what it’s like to just get lost in a book for days on end. Escaping reality is wonderful, but unfortunately, it’s always there, waiting for you to get back to it.

Well, now you can feel a little less guilty about avoiding reality by earning some money while reading.

10. Quit Smoking

Have you tried of quitting multiple times, but can’t find a reason?

Maybe extra cash would be a good push for you to finally do it? Some studies, government agencies and other private companies actually pay people to quit smoking.

Not only can this help you get your health in check, the cash (about $1,500 per study or up to $500/month) is a pretty good reward.

11. Eat

Probably my favorite way of earning money on the side, yes, you can get paid to eat.

The food industry is a billion-dollar industry, so this isn’t really a surprising way to earn money.

But you’ll be surprised there are multiple ways you can earn from eating – from food competitions to getting paid to eat on camera ala-mukbang, and getting paid to test recipes, take food photography, review restaurants, and review food products.

12. Lose Weight

Let’s face it – not everyone will love this side gig.

But if you’ve been planning to lose some pounds, why not get paid to lose weight while you’re at it?

Many of these methods don’t even require you to go out of the house – you just download an app, do the initial set-ups, enter your meals, and physical activities. People earn rewards, which they can then trade in for gift cards or PayPal cash.

Jobs That Pay You To Do Virtually Nothing

Can you imagine working a job that requires so little of you that it’s almost like they’re just paying you for your time and nothing else?

Well, here are a few low-stakes jobs that you might be interested in.

13. Store People’s Stuff

Neighbor.com lets you rent out basically any space or room in your house for the sole purpose of storing someone else’s stuff.

Garages and driveways in populated areas seem to fetch the most amount of money that I can see, but you can list something as small as a spare bedroom closet.

14. Stand in Line

People will fall in line for something really important to them.

Think of the first showing in a local theater of a popular movie, such as one of the Star Wars movies. Or the release of a long-awaited video game, the latest iPhone, or the latest Air Jordans.

Or the main shopping event of the year: Black Friday.

But the waiting can be a hassle. It can be cold. And dark. And the pavement can be hard.

So why not pay someone else to fall in line?

Here’s where you come in.

Thanks to websites like the New York-based Same Ole Line Dudes and Los Angeles-based Line Rushers, or apps like TaskRabbit and InLine4You, you can get paid to stand in line.

You can either meet the one who hired you when you’re almost at the front of the line, or you can charge them extra for the cost of the item and even delivery if you’re falling in line to buy something.

The pay rate is usually per hour, and you can charge more or less depending on how long you’re estimated to wait, time of day, weather conditions, and other relevant conditions.

Same Ole Line Dudes, for example, charges a minimum of $45 for up to two hours, after which it’s $10 per half hour. However, it’s unclear how much of this goes to the actual people who stay in line.

15. Strike a Pose—And Hold It.

So this one may not be for everyone, but if you have the confidence to show every inch of your body to a roomful of strangers and can hold a pose for a while, this can be a lucrative freelance job.

An art model is someone who presents themselves to drawing artists, painters, sculptors, and photographers to pose for hours (with breaks in between) so that artists can capture every bit of detail and contour of their body.

They may be employed by individual artists, a studio, or an art school. The average salary of an art model is around $25 an hour but will depend on prior experience, employer, and how long the project is.

16. Stay in the Background.

A background actor, commonly known as an extra, lends authenticity to a scene in a movie or TV show that’s set in a public space.

The typical workday of a background actor involves a lot of sitting around a movie set, acting normally, and staying out of the way of the actors, crew, and cameras.

For this, you can get paid anywhere between $100 to $150 per day.

Plus, there’s nearly always free food.

Leverage Your Assets

This may be news to some of you, but you can actually use things that you already own to make money

17. Rent Out Your Possessions.

A good source of side income is renting out your assets that you aren’t currently using. Getting rent payments for assets that are otherwise not being used is literally getting paid while doing nothing.

Rent out your house, your car, or your other belongings that are unused and just cluttering up your house.

18. Invest Your Money.

This one may sound intimidating, but hear me out.

Nowadays, you don’t need a lot of money to start investing.

Microinvesting apps like Robinhood, Public.com, and Acorns allow you to invest with as low as $1 in your investment account.

The Acorns app even automates investing when you connect the app to your debit and credit cards. When you make a purchase, it rounds the payment up to the nearest dollar amount and invests the difference for you.

For instance, if you buy coffee at $3.75, the app rounds the payment up to $4.00 and invests the $0.25 for you.

This way, you’re still shopping and paying bills like you normally do while the app takes care of the investing.

Work Now, Get Paid Later

The best way to get paid to do nothing is to work hard and work smart in the beginning to set up passive income streams, and then sit back and profit for months and years to come.

Here are some ideas to get you inspired.

19. Sell Digital Products

This is one of those endeavors that take a lot of work initially but pays off eventually, as long as you do it right the first time.

Brainstorm for a product idea that fits your knowledge and experience. If you’re into writing, publish an eBook. Artist? Create digital media and artwork. Teacher? Produce an ecourse. You get the idea.

Once your digital products are in their respective marketplaces, all you need to do now is market the products and then wait for the payments to roll in.

20. Set Up an Online Business

Building a business is undoubtedly hard work.

But because of the online economy, it’s become easier than ever to hire freelancers who do stellar work, which means you can leave much of the time-suck tasks to them while you do overall management.

For instance, you can set up a dropshipping business by yourself and then eventually hire freelancers to create and publish product listings, coordinate with the manufacturers and shippers, and address customer concerns.

Or you can start working as a transcriptionist and then eventually expand so that you handle a team who does the transcripts while you handle client outreach.

How to Get Free Stuff

While the options below won’t really get you paid, you can get a whole lot of free stuff sent right to your doorstep, if you know where to look, at least.

I’ve tried to find as many ways to get freebies as I could, and divided them into these categories:

Getting Paid to Do Nothing Has Never Been Easier

If you want to get paid to do nothing just know that isn’t some far-fetched dream if you know how to do it. Most of the things listed above won’t pay enough for you to live off of, but they’re great as a side hustle to get some extra income.

If you’re still looking for even more ways to make extra money, then have a look at these easy ways to earn money from your phone, or this massive list of different side hustles.

Get Paid to Test Products: 35 Ways to Become a Product Tester

If you’re a fan of review blogs, you’re probably amazed and maybe a bit jealous of the sheer number of products these bloggers get to use, review, and even keep. While companies automatically send out new products to big-shot bloggers, here’s good news for non-bloggers out there: this isn’t the only way to get paid to test products.

This is a legitimate gig called paid product testing, which earns the tester either cash, gift certificates, or the actual products to test.

What is product testing for, you ask?

Companies do this as part of their market research, often before launching a product completely into the market.

With paid product testing, companies receive much-needed feedback.

Depending on whether the feedback is mostly good or bad, this helps them make a decision: to go ahead and do a full launch of the product, scale back production, or improve the product first before launch.

It really is a fascinating look into product development and provides you with the opportunity to try something new and get paid for your time.

I went ahead and rounded up some of the best options for you. I’ve broken down this list of product testing opportunities into two categories.

  • 20 Market Research Firms: These are research companies that will pay you to work with a number of different brands to try new things

Sign up for as many of these companies as you can to maximize your earnings.

Join these 20 Product Testing Websites

Only a few companies advertise product testing opportunities. Instead, companies prefer to let market research firms handle the entire process (from finding testers to recording results) for them.

These 20 tried-and-tested product testing websites are the online counterpart of market research firms:

1. Opinion Outpost

Opinion Outpost logo

Opinion Outpost is the best when it comes to market research groups and they are looking for people to take short surveys on upcoming products.

Payments are made via PayPal (cash), Amazon gift cards, or iTunes gift cards.

Their goal is to keep their surveys as short as possible, maximizing the amount of money you can earn per hour.

2. Daily Goodie Box

Daily Goodie Box

Daily Goodie Box will send you giant boxes of free stuff and all you have to do is let them know what you think!

You will be working with big companies directly to help them improve their product offerings.

Just fill out their application here, answer a few questions, and start getting tons of free stuff in the mail.

3. Toluna Influencers

Become a Toluna influencer

This Paris-based company helps brands that require buzz for their products reach influencers across the world to test products.

Anyone can register a free Toluna account, but you have to apply to test products before you can actually participate.

If you are chosen to test the product, you’ll receive the item/s and complete the job by answering the survey included in the assignment.

Toluna regularly has cosmetics and bathroom products to test. What’s great is that every test assignment includes about 200 to 500 products, which means you have a good chance of participating with these gigs even if testers are chosen randomly.

4. Product Testing USA

Product Testing USA Homepage

Product Testing USA works a little differently than other testing sites.

They offer big-name and expensive products from different categories for free, but you enter your name into the pool to see if you will be randomly selected as a product tester.

Previous testers have been given Dyson Vacuums, Xbox Ones, and even iPad Pros.

You only need to enter your name and email address for a chance to be selected. Follow their Facebook page to see previous and upcoming product testing opportunities.

5. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie

At Survey Junkie, you work with brands directly as an influencer to help them shape their products.

You can also get paid to give feedback on services.

Members earn points for every activity completed. They can then redeem these points for gift cards or straight cash via PayPal.

Survey Junkie is free to join and the points never expire, so it’s worth spending free time here.

6. Pinecone Research

Pinecone Research

This market research firm is well-trusted and is one of the oldest ones on this list.

Pinecone Research is known for having the best rates for product testing.

You can get paid to test products such as food, drinks, and beauty products, among others.

Pinecone pays in points, which you can redeem for cash via PayPal or cheque.

7. PINCHme

All you need to do is answer a series of questions about your household and shopping habits, and PINCHme will offer samples that fit your lifestyle. You get to pick and choose the ones you want.

PINCHme will then ship out a box of these free samples from tons of big-name companies directly to your door.

Review these products and get new offers the following month.

You don’t actually get paid for the surveys, but you get to keep the products.

8. UserTesting

This website doesn’t have traditional product testing.

Instead, UserTesting is focused on digital businesses, and its members get paid to test websites or apps for money.

There’s no specialization needed to become a tester here. However, you should be good at noticing small details that affect your visit to a particular website. For example, you should be able to take note if the search bar is hard to find, or if the app crashes every time you save data.

Every test takes only 20 minutes with 99% accepted by UserTesting.

Tests pay $10 via PayPal, and payment comes in 7 days after you complete a website or app test.

Unfortunately, you can’t participate in all of them since your demo background should line up with specific test requirements.

9. BetaTesting.com

Similar to UserTesting, BetaTesting is focused on testing apps, websites, and hardware.

It’s been around since 2012 and has over 200k users to date.

While this product testing opportunity may seem hard to regular folks, since some require checking for bugs on sites, these tests do not call for too many requirements.

BetaTesting, however, rewards comprehensive assessment with more work, so those who submit higher quality feedback receive more opportunities.

FYI, you can receive 0 to 5 product tests per month.

Payment for each assessment ranges from $10 to $20 and is sent via PayPal seven days after project completion.

10. BzzAgent

BzzAgent is a younger company, but it’s one of the few that focuses exclusively on product testing. Most of the tasks here include surveys, focus groups, and so on.

Anyone from the USA, Canada, or the UK can join BzzAgent by simply completing a profile and answering a questionnaire with a few surveys to determine your demo, interests, and areas of expertise.

If you are sent a paid product trial gig via e-mail, you are given 8 weeks to test the product, share your results on social media, and submit feedback to BzzAgent.

BzzAgent sends out a wide range of products, including gadgets, toiletries, cosmetics, home equipment, and more.

The company used to pay cash, but now just gives the products that members test out. Those who promote the products on Instagram, Facebook, or other online platforms tend to receive more testing invitations in the future.

11. Influenster

Simply download the Influenster app and complete your profile.

Occasionally, you’ll receive Snaps as notifications on your phone. These are very short questions that you can quickly answer to help Influenster know you better and increase your chances of getting sent monthly VoxBoxes.

Like many of the newer websites, you won’t get paid to test products with cash, but you get to keep all the products that Influenster sends you. And these aren’t your ordinary products, either; the products come from some of the biggest brands in the beauty and food industries.

12. Valued Opinions

By taking part in online surveys with Valued Opinions US, you can tell brands exactly what you think about their products and services.

Sometimes, if the company includes a product to test, you can get the opportunity to try out new products and packaging. Other companies even ask you to review their advertising campaigns before airing them.

Every time you take one of Valued Opinions paid surveys, you’re helping companies know what they need to do to improve. In exchange, you earn credit that you can redeem as gift cards .

13. American Consumer Opinion Panel (ACOP)

The American Consumer Opinion Panel (ACOP) is a market research panel that gathers opinions and feedback from consumers across the United States.

Participants in ACOP share their views on various products, services, and brands through surveys conducted by the panel.

To get paid on the American Consumer Opinion Panel, participants earn points for completing surveys. These points can later be redeemed for cash, gift cards, or other rewards.

The number of points awarded varies based on the length and complexity of each survey.

Once a participant accumulates a certain number of points, they can exchange them for the available rewards.

Members of ACOP typically receive survey invitations via email, and they can choose to participate in surveys that match their interests or demographics.

It’s important to note that while ACOP compensates participants for their time and opinions, the earnings may not be substantial (so don’t quit your day job just yet). The primary incentive for joining is often the opportunity to share feedback and influence products and services.

14. HomeScan

HomeScan, often associated with the Nielsen company, is a market research program that collects data on consumer purchasing behavior.

Participants in the HomeScan program are provided with a handheld scanner or a mobile app. They use this to scan the barcodes of the products they purchase during their regular shopping trips.

To get paid with HomeScan, participants earn points for every scanned item. These points can be accumulated and later redeemed for various rewards such as gift cards, merchandise, or entries into sweepstakes.

The amount of points awarded for each scanned item may vary. Participants typically have the flexibility to choose the rewards that best suit their preferences.

In addition to the points system, some HomeScan programs offer participants the chance to participate in sweepstakes or other contests, providing an additional opportunity to win prizes.

15. Crowdville

This UK-based company focuses exclusively on apps instead of products.

So anyone who loves checking out new apps should join, review them, and actually get paid to test digital products.

Unlike other product-testing sites that match your demo with the brand’s requirements, Crowdville members have to apply for a “mission” (or the test) to participate.

16. Home Tester Club

Home Tester Club is a product testing and review platform where members have the opportunity to try out various products for free and share their feedback. The platform is designed to gather real consumer opinions on products and services.

Home Tester Club typically compensates members through free products, points/rewards (redeemable for gift cards and discounts), as well as the chance to win at in-house contests and giveaways.

17. Crowdtap

Crowdtap is a platform that connects brands with consumers to gather feedback, insights, and promote products through word-of-mouth marketing.

Members of Crowdtap, known as “Tappers,” participate in various activities to engage with brands and provide valuable feedback.

To get started, sign up and create your profile.

Brands create missions on Crowdtap, which are specific tasks or activities related to their products. Tappers perform these activities, including surveys, discussions, product reviews, and sharing content on social media.

Once Tappers complete these missions, they earn points that are redeemable for various rewards, such as gift cards, product samples, or donations to charity.

18. Ipsos iSay

Ipsos iSay is an online survey platform that allows users to participate in surveys and share their opinions on various topics, products, and services.

The platform is operated by Ipsos, a global market research company. You are paid by points, which you can redeem for gift cards, merchandise or even cash via PayPal.

19. MomSelect

Although this is kind of an exclusive club (for moms-only and influencers with a social media following), joining MomSelect is worth it if you’ve checked both qualifications.

As a MomSelect member, you’ll be asked to attend mom parties and conferences, answer surveys, and test products for cash.

MomSelect is a big deal. They’ve worked with brands like Baby Einstein, Walt Disney World Resort, Chick-Fil-A, Huggies, Beachers, Leap Frog, and Beech-Nut, among others.

20. ThePinkPanel

ThePinkPanel is one of the most sought after beauty-focused consumer panels around.

Anyone can join thePinkPanel, but each member can only test one beauty product within a 6-month-period (and earn from $25 to $100 for each testing).

Online surveys and focus groups are also available and paid up to $100 a pop.

Can You Work as a Product Tester Full-Time?

It’s cool that you get paid to test products as a side gig, or whenever you find something you’d like to dip your fingers into.

Even receiving not-yet-launched products can be exciting.

However, joining product testing panels does not guarantee that you’ll be chosen every time.

You also don’t know when new opportunities will come.

As such, make sure you don’t turn this into a full-time job because you’d surely be disappointed, not to mention broke.

The best thing to do about product-testing income is to consider it as extra cash for gifts during Christmas, birthdays, and other holidays (those Amazon gift cards can add up if you do this on the side for several months).

9 Best Places to Sell Your Hair Online For Cash

Do you know that you can sell your hair for hundreds to even thousands of dollars?

It’s one of the easiest ways to make some pocket money, as long as you have long, healthy hair.

It’s not as strange as it sounds.

In fact, a lot of people prefer to use real hair in wigs and hair extensions instead of synthetic ones and will pay a pretty penny to get it.

And since hair grows back again, you can sell your hair multiple times throughout your life.

Plus, anyone who can grow hair can do it! It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, how old you are, or what your race is. As long as you have high-quality hair to grow, you have the potential to make money.

Here’s information on what hair buyers are looking for, how to go about selling your hair, and the best places to put up your hair for sale.

Or, if you already know how to sell your hair, you can jump to the list of places to sell your hair online to browse.

How to Get Your Hair Ready to Sell

Before we dive into how to sell your hair, take note that we’re talking about human hair that grows from your head.

Nowhere else. I have to make that distinction very clear early on.

1. Start growing and grooming your hair.

Before you list your hair for sale, you first have to think about what hair buyers are looking for.

First, buyers are looking for virgin hair; that is, they want untreated hair free of hair dye (not even highlights) and chemical treatments, such as relaxants or perms.

You’ll also have to have healthy habits. Evidence of cigarette smoking, drinking, and drugs show up in your hair even after it’s been washed.

You might not think it matters, but hair that is not washed daily is more sellable. Too much washing strips hair of its natural oils and makes it look dull and prone to split ends, making it undesirable.

Also, hair that is not heat-treated or sun-damaged is definitely more desirable, so if you’re planning to sell your hair soon, stop using blow dryers, curling irons, straightening irons, or any other heating tool to style your hair. Start wearing hats when going out in the sun.

Another thing you need to do while you’re growing your hair is to trim it evenly; no layers or asymmetrical cuts.

Lastly, hair buyers want at least 10 inches to work with. Some buyers even require a minimum of 16 inches.

On average, hair grows about a half inch per month. Depending on where you’re starting, you are likely looking at over a year of hair growth before you can even think about selling it.

This isn’t going to replace your full-time job, but think of this as a nice way to come into a windfall of cash every few years.

2. Find the best online marketplace.

You wouldn’t want to be selling your hair sale in a dark alley.

Fortunately, you don’t have to.

Legitimate, hair-specific buy and sell marketplaces are online, which means you can make the sale at the comfort of your own home.

Just make sure you pick a site from those I listed below that would work best for you.

3. Work on your listing.

Each hair marketplace would have different forms and information that you’d have to provide, but here are general guidelines when working on your listing:

  • Measure your hair. You’ll need the length and thickness (in inches) because this is one of the biggest factors for buying hair.
  • Complete details about your hair. Is it blonde with a tinge of red? Is it thick or thin? Curly or straight? Make sure you describe your hair as accurately as possible.
  • Haircare habits. This is where buyers will have an idea about the quality of your hair. Indicate if you drink, smoke, or take any kind of drugs.

Open up about the shampoos, conditioners, and other products and treatments you use for your hair. How do you style your hair and what equipment do you regularly use?

  • Hair photos. Deep condition the day before and then ask a friend to help you take high-quality pictures of your hair.

Go out in the sunlight, so you can showcase the color of your hair. Take photos of your hair spread out, in a ponytail, in a braid.

  • Price it right. Compare pricing from other sellers on the sites, so you’d be able to price your hair fairly.

4. Close the deal

Almost all the sites below allow you to communicate with potential buyers first before deciding if you want to sell or not.

Sometimes, buyers will ask for discounts.

Other times, they’ll just double-check details about your hair.

Important: Don’t cut your hair before you’ve found a buyer and received payment!

If you cut your hair and the deal falls through, the already-cut hair will lose its luster and you’ll have difficulty finding a buyer for it.

Once you’ve sold your hair, you need to go to the salon to have it professionally cut.

Your clients would specify how exactly they want hair removed from your head.

Secure the hair with bands afterward, and then pack and ship it properly. Purchase insurance or delivery confirmation for your protection.

I’ve also seen quite a few ads that offer the buyer the chance to cut the hair themselves. You may want to decide if this is something you’d be comfortable offering before you make a listing.

If you do go this route, make sure you negotiate a little more money as well.

How much can you make selling hair?

The price of human hair varies significantly.

For example, a 20-inch long, 3-inch thick lock of hair can pull in somewhere between $100 to $1000.

This amount will also depend on various factors like your location, ethnicity, color and quality of your hair, and so on.

The average length of hair being sold is around 20 inches, but hair measuring 28 inches and above can bag higher prices.

If you have long locks of hair that you’ve cut in the past and want to sell, this won’t be accepted anymore because buyers prefer hair to be freshly cut.

Can you get paid to donate hair?

If you’ve been trying to sell your hair for months and you don’t want to pay a listing fee anymore, you can consider donating your hair to charity instead.

Unlike “donating plasma” but still receiving cash, donating hair means you’re giving it away completely without any monetary compensation.

You’d probably get teary-eyed doing it too, as most of the recipients are kids and adults who suffer from medical hair loss.

If this is something you’re interested in, check out Locks of Love, Wigs For Kids, Children With Hair Loss, and Little Princess Trust – all of which cater to patients who’ll use your hair for wigs.

The Best Places to Sell Hair Online and Earn Cash

If you’re committed to selling your hair and have taken all of the above preparations, here are the best online marketplaces to get started.

Be sure to check them all out as every site offers different benefits and features.

1. HairSellon

Most people who want to sell their hair go straight to Hair Sellon.

What I like best about this site is their hair price calculator.

Hair price calculator results

It gives you an estimate of how much your hair is worth based on the length, thickness, and color. You control the price of your hair here, and potential buyers can negotiate with you directly.

2. BuyAndSellHair

Next up is BuyAndSellHair.com which touts itself as the #1 Human Hair Marketplace.

BuyAndSellHair

“Human Hair Marketplace” may sound creepy, but it’s accurate.

Either way, there’s a fee to list your hair here of $14.50 per 3 months. The platform looks more modern than HairSellOn, and there’s a chance you’d get featured at the home page.

There are a number of success stories here and you can browse recently sold hair to get an idea of how to improve your own listings.

3. Online Hair Affair

Launched in 2008, this website lets you post hair-for-sale ads for $12 for one month, $15 for six months, or $20 for 1 year. Your ad will be active until your hair is sold or the time runs out, whichever comes first.

It isn’t as active as the first two sites, but you do have a bigger space to advertise your hair and an international audience.

There’s also a category for gray hair here, which isn’t available on other sites.

4. World of Wigs

You can sell your hair directly to wigmakers.

They price hair differently here, going by weight instead (about $3 to $5 per oz. of hair).

You’d have to send your hair to World of Wigs, and you will only be paid once the company has received your hair and assessed it.

Note that World of Wigs are only accepting hair 16 inches or longer at this time.

Check availability since this company sometimes pauses buying hair, but resumes eventually.

5. SellHairStore.com

They claim to be the first and the biggest international hair marketplace. Listing your hair here makes it visible to more potential buyers.

Plus, listing your hair here is free forever until your hair is sold.

People pick SellHairStore.com when they want to sell hair that’s shorter than 15 inches or if you’re open to cut depending on client’s length request.

The platform also lets you control the pricing for your hair ad.

6. Banbury Postiche

Banbury Postiche is the oldest wig maker in the UK, making wigs since the early 1920s. They can use or purchase hair that’s at least 14 inches long, tied at the nape prior to cutting.

They pay between £3 to £7 for every 25 grams of hair. Longer, more pristine hair gets better prices.

To get more information on how to sell your hair to them, send them an email at sales[at]banburypostiche[dot]com.

7. Bloomsbury at The London Hair Clinic

Bloomsbury makes wigs for hair loss sufferers, such as those suffering from alopecia or undergoing chemotherapy.

The minimum acceptable requirements of hair that they buy include a length of at least 18 inches, virgin hair, and securely tied into a ponytail.

If your hair meets their requirements, you can send them your hair

To get further information on how to sell your hair to them, email them at info[at]thelondonhairclinic[dot]com.

8. LoveJewelsHair.com

Jewel’s Hair is different from other marketplaces on this list because it has a salon facility, which means you can get the usual hair salon services like cut, color, extensions, braiding and other styling.

Then if you decide to sell your hair, you’ll get paid for it, too!

The only requirement of Love Jewel’s Hair is having a minimum of 8 inches. Your hair shouldn’t be relaxed or chemically-damaged as well. The actual value would be based on the length and thickness of your hair, which is evaluated in person.

The only downside is that Jewel’s Hair only has one branch, in Arizona, so not everyone can take advantage of their hair-buying program.

9. Online Classified Ads and Selling Apps

Selling your hair through classified ads or selling apps may seem bizarre, but we are in an era when you can put up pretty much anything for sale and you’ll find a buyer.

You might be surprised at who’s interested in buying your hair.

Your local hairdresser may be on the market for hair to make into hair extensions.

Or a college student studying to be a hairdresser might need some human hair.

Or a neighbor might be looking for hair to make into fishing lures.

As with anything else that has to do with dealing with strangers, keep yourself safe. Do not give out personal information and use secure payment methods like PayPal and Venmo.

Here are some sites where you can possibly sell your hair.

Make Money Selling Your Hair!

Selling your hair may seem odd to some people, but if you’re in need of extra cash, it could definitely help out.

$500 to $1000 for 20-inch long hair isn’t small change; it could pay off a bill or take care of groceries for a week or two.

Just make sure you’re mentally and emotionally prepared for the sudden and drastic physical change that cutting off your hair involves.

Other things you can sell that your body generates for free include plasma, eggs, and breastmilk.

12 Work from Home Dispatcher Jobs Hiring Now

The role of a work from home dispatcher is just as important in the $700-billion-dollar logistics and trucking industry as their office-based dispatch counterparts.

Dispatchers find freight for trucking companies to transport. While the job may look similar to customer support jobs, dispatchers actually have more tasks to fulfill.

They are in constant communication and negotiation between the driver, broker, trucking company, shipper, receiver, and other parties involved in freight logistics.

A Day in the Life of a Home-Based Dispatcher

A work-from-home dispatcher may be miles away or halfway around the world, but they can manage a group of truck drivers via phone.

Dispatchers are experts in spreadsheets, real-time maps, and Skype or other messaging platforms.

As a truck dispatcher, your day would likely involve tasks such as:

  • Finding loads/freight and negotiating rates with brokers.

This is the main job of truck dispatchers.

They find freights to keep trucking companies busy and make sure the rates are agreeable to all parties.

Dispatchers may also be responsible for checking the creditworthiness of suppliers.

  • Arranging package pickups and deliveries.

If you already have consistent customers and would no longer need to find packages every day, your job would likely revolve around arranging pickups, deliveries, and other package handling concerns.

  • Picking out the best routes for drivers.

Because you are the one scheduling all the logistics of delivery, you’ll also determine the best routes for truck drivers to reach their destinations safely and on time.

  • Managing the daily driver schedule.

Sometimes, cancellations occur. Bad weather conditions make it impossible to reach destinations. Scheduled deliveries may have to be rescheduled due to other circumstances.

During these instances, the job of a dispatcher is to update drivers throughout the day to save gas and other resources.

  • Conducting team meetings.

As a work from home dispatcher, you may be working away from your team, but you’re still considered their leader.

You’ll need to address their job-related concerns and improve morale.

  • Logging and keeping records.

Ensuring the drivers log their schedules, incidents, route changes, and other details of their trips is crucial to the success of the business.

  • Generating invoices.

You’ve negotiated on fees between all parties involved, so it’s only fitting that you handle the invoicing as well.

  • Keeping up-to-date with weather conditions.

As mentioned earlier, you need to be on top of things that could affect the schedule of deliveries.

Generally speaking, a trucking dispatcher must decide on the most efficient and most cost-effective loads for all the trucks on the team.

Where to Find Work from Home Dispatcher Jobs

The best way to learn the ropes of truck dispatching is to be employed with a trucking company first. When you’ve learned the ins and outs of truck dispatching, becoming an independent truck dispatcher is going to be easier.

The company is always on the look-out for trucking dispatchers and dispatch managers.

Swift Transportation offers both on-field, office-based and sometimes, work-from-home positions.

The future of work from home dispatcher jobs looks good, but since this is a fast-paced, high-stress job, many people who began this career employed with a trucking company often decide to turn it into a full-time business.

After all, running a dispatcher business brings the same responsibilities (and stress) as it does with either independent or employed dispatchers while providing the opportunity to earn more.

How Much do Dispatchers Get Paid?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, earning potential for all dispatchers is about $46,650 per year.

Trucking dispatchers are non-emergency personnel.

Emergency dispatchers take care of distress calls and work with emergency services like ambulance, fire department, or police. The rates of emergency dispatchers are higher (about $18 an hour), while trucking dispatchers who are employed with a company earn around $15/hour.

A freelancer dispatcher is paid on commissions (either prepaid or by the amount of load, freight, or jobs closed within a week). The rate of a work from home dispatcher is also lower than field- or office-based dispatchers.

On average, a dispatcher can handle around 3 to 5 trucks at a time with each truck bringing you in an average income of $1000/month, so that’s around $3000 to $5000 monthly. This is the main reason why many prefer being independent truck dispatchers to being tied to just one company.

How to Start a Dispatching Home Business

The trucking and logistics industry has many players.

As a dispatcher, you play only one of the several important roles.

As such, when you decide to launch a dispatching home business, you should know the ins and outs of this role already. You also need the following:

  • Dispatcher license – Depending on where you’re located, your state may require you to have a high school diploma and go through additional truck dispatching courses.
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) – All businesses in the U.S. require an EIN from the IRS.
  • A small office – Ideally, your office should have a computer, high-speed internet, printer, fax machine, and a landline. Also, the office should be in a quiet environment, so you could answer and make calls without any issues.
  • Dispatching software – An ideal dispatching software allows you to prioritize time-sensitive cargo, calculate the fastest and safest routes, monitor the weather, track drivers, and many other essential functions.
  • Bookkeeping software – This is a godsend when organizing invoices, names, schedules, shipping information, and so on. It also keeps records of past transactions and helps you keep tabs on payments made.
  • Get paperwork – Write contracts, so all transactions you do are documented. Pick a business structure (LLC, sole proprietorship, etc.) that you think is most suitable for your business.
  • Create a marketing plan – Are you taking this business to the next level? Craft a marketing plan that will outline how you’re going to promote your dispatching services.

Trucking Training: Learn how to be a work from home dispatcher

If you’re planning to switch careers as a dispatcher, or build your own trucking dispatch company, but you don’t have an idea where to begin, joining companies like Learn Dispatch International will give you all the information you need to manage your own fleet, clients, brokers, trucks, and so on.

There is a membership fee you’d need to shoulder, but the courses come from people who have been dispatchers for decades. They know what they’re talking about.

Is a work from home dispatcher Job Still a Viable Remote Gig?

Truck dispatching is definitely more complicated than the usual call center jobs, or other ways to make money off your phone.

In fact, dispatching is a high-paced position, you must be able to work under pressure while maintaining your composure. This is probably the most important characteristic of dispatchers because burnout in this field is very real.

Whether you decide to work for one of the companies above or build your own business from scratch, being a work from home dispatcher doesn’t make the job any easier. There’s a lot that is required of a dispatcher.

Your communication and negotiation skills must be top-notch, since your goal is to always find the middle ground with other players of the trucking/logistics industry.

But if you know what you’re getting into and love the high-paced, no-error responsibility this role entails, then there’s a big future for you in the trucking and logistics industry.

35 Paid Online Research Studies Seeking Participants

Pay range for research studies

How can one participate in paid online research studies and get paid for your brain, your health, and your opinions?

Well, you’re in the right place.

Today, let’s look at 35 different opportunities to get paid as a participant in research studies.

Types of Paid Online Research Studies

A medical study involves a group of people within an age group, gender, race, ethnic group, or individuals with the same specific health issues.

Participating in these studies often involves answering a combination of interviews, tests, surveys, or experimentation to be able to answer questions on how to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure health disorders and diseases.

Aside from paid medical studies, market research makes use of paid online research to find out what customers want or need from various products and companies.

The cool thing about paid online research studies available today is that even if you are not a part of the target audience, you can still participate in the study in another capacity.

Online research studies can be either quantitative or qualitative.

Quantitative studies are the ones with static, pre-planned answers. A questionnaire with multiple-choice answers is a good example of this study. It is made as such so that the researcher can easily analyze the results.

Qualitative studies are a bit more complex since they involve open-ended answers.

However, this type of study ends up with better data. Focus groups and interviews are both methods used in qualitative studies.

How Much Can You Earn from Paid Research Studies?

Imagine earning up to $1,000 just for sharing your opinion, review of a product, or thoughts about a particular experience without even stepping out of the house.

You don’t even have to spend a cent to participate in these research studies.

Most of the time, you’d only have to be at least 18 years old and currently live in the US.

Even when you’re below 18 years old, researchers sometimes allow you to participate as long as you had a waiver from your parent or legal guardian.

The amount you earn from joining research studies depend on the following:

  • Method of research — Did you join a focus group? Answered a lengthy interview? Filled out a survey form?
  • Length of study — Some interviews only take an hour and earn you $150. Some focus groups could take several sessions and end only after several weeks.
  • Type of payment — Not all companies pay cash. Some use PayPal, while others prefer checks, gift cards, prepaid cards, and so on.

Quick surveys can be as little as $10 and high as $100.

Focus group sessions range between $50 and $500 per session.

Interviews can earn you somewhere from $50 to $400 for an hour of your time.

Simply put, the amount you’ll be paid will vary from study to study.

Missions pay from $50 to $100, each lasting about 30 minutes.

Can I turn these Paid Online Research Studies into a Full-Time Job?

While paid online studies are highly interesting and offer legitimate side cash, this gig cannot replicate the steady income and benefits you can get with a full-time job.

You’d have to consider that many research studies:

  • have eligibility requirements (which means you’re not guaranteed a slot every time)
  • cannot be joined twice (once you’ve participated in a specific study, you can’t do a repeat)
  • have varying payments (there’s no stability in such income)

I do think it’s a legitimate side gig if you’re in between jobs or have a lot of free time on your hands.

You can also get paid answering surveys, joining focus groups, or testing products.

11 Influencer Platforms to Help You Find Sponsorship & Deals

If you’re trying to be proactive and wanted to go where businesses find influencers, I have important news for you:

  • The platforms aimed at businesses in search of influencers to team up with are unfortunately, only for businesses.

For example, Traackr, was designed specifically to discover and manage influencers, as well as track the progress of campaigns.

  • Most of the time, there is no way to sign-up as an influencer on these sites or apps.

It’s because the business-geared platforms use robots and algorithms to find potential brand ambassadors based on various factors, such as number and age of followers, niche, location, level of activity, and so on.

If you do find a platform that allows influencers to join and make a profile, expect these platforms to be more biased to businesses (or lack features beneficial to your influencer life). This is because the businesses are the ones paying for access to this data.

Check some of them out here:

1. IZEA (Formerly Tap Influence)

Create an account. Complete your profile. Then when a marketer is interested in collaborating with you, you’ll receive an invitation to bid on an opportunity.

The invitation isn’t a guarantee you’ll be chosen.

  • PROS: Marketers can see your profile and if your business matches the brand’s needs, your name will be included in the “options”
  • CONS: You are not given a chance to message marketers directly. If you are chosen, communication and payments go through the IZEA platform.

2. YouTube Brand Connect (formerly FameBit.com)

Before YouTube acquired the branded content marketplace FameBit.com, this site let creators find sponsorship, submit proposals to brands, and get paid all in one platform.

On July 2022, the self-service feature was discontinued.

As a replacement, the YouTube BrandConnect was made available as a self-service tool within YouTube Studio. This means it can only be used by YouTubers.

  • PROS: The full service program still helps creators by matching them with brands. Best for YouTubers.
  • CONS: You don’t have the freedom you enjoyed with self-service.

3. Heepsy.com

Heepsy is mostly for businesses and marketers looking for influencers.

On their side, brands can filter influencers based on past deals, audience demographics, and other useful filters.

As an influencer, you could also find and contact other influencers near you or within your niche if you’re feeling a bit lost and need advice with pricing deals, finding brands, or even setting up a collaboration.

  • PROS: The influencer-friendly feature is pretty useful. Try out the free trial before paying though.
  • CONS: Not enough features available for influencers. This is mostly a business-aimed platform.

4. Aspire IQ (formerly Revfluence)

Known formerly as Revfluence, Aspire IQ is a self-service solution for brands and marketers looking for influencers to work with.

The Aspire IQ okatfirn offers plenty of analytical data about influencers and provide brands with a platform to collaborate, manage and assist in tracking campaigns.

If you’re an influencer, you just need to join and Aspire IQ would match you with brands and handle payments for you as well.

  • PROS: Big companies like Quest Nutrition and Birchbox are some examples of the brands they work with. Sends payment through PayPal.
  • CONS: Influencers cannot send brands proposals

5. FOHR.co

FOHR has a goldmine of resources for influencers starting out in this business.

Make sure to follow the blog and join their email list.

It’s free to join as influencers, and the company seems to be serious at helping both sides make the collaborations into a win-win scenario.

All influencers who sign-up to FOHR gets their own Instagram Follower Health Score, which is a pretty cool ‘scoring’ feature.

  • PROS: Awesome choice for fashion bloggers and influencers
  • CONS: Not for beginners with little to no clout on Instagram

6. Influential

Influential helps you connect with businesses across different social media platforms.

Although Influential is like other companies that use a software for matching influencers with brands, but this is quite exciting because it is powered by Watson, IBM’s artificial intelligence (AI) software.

  • PROS: AI software that knows your profile and followers down to the T
  • CONS: No way to join as influencers

7. Linqia

This influencer marketing platform is also AI-driven and focuses more on the brands.

Features include a social content lab, where brands can test and analyze various influencers for any particular campaign.

The requirements for influencers are pretty easy: at least 2 social accounts, over 2500 followers a month, and at least 1 post monthly.

  • PROS: Pays in about 10 days, unlike the standard 30-day
  • CONS: Canada and US-based influencers only.

8. Mavrck

The Mavrck platform is pretty unique.

In most cases, the software collects a list of influencers, weigh the level of clout each one has, verify the followers and information, then match these verified influencers with brands.

With Mavrck, a brand’s real customers are invited to become brand ambassadors.

  • PROS: Big-time brands like Universal Studios, New Balance, Proctor & Gamble, Gillette, Dunkin’ Donuts, Sears, and JetBlue.
  • CONS: Influencers have to trust the system and wish that they get picked to become ambassadors.

9. Tidal Labs

Tidal Labs is a full-service influence platform.

Through its AI, Tidal finds and groups influencers into certain categories.

Brands can create two kinds of campaigns: a public one that any influencer can apply to, and a private one that is only offered to certain influencers.

  • PROS: Tidal Labs claim of giving beginners a fair shot as experienced influencers
  • CONS: More private campaigns than public campaigns available

10. SocialBook

SocialBook is dubbed as the world’s best real-time YouTube/Instagram influencer analytical, marketing and advertising machine learning engine.

The platform was designed to help both influencers and brands arrive at a win-win situation.

  • PROS: Good set of features for influencers: from the ability to check other influencers’ reports to getting brand offers from within the platform.
  • CONS: Free plan is good, but lacks the juicy features available with the paid plans ($14 to $34/month).

11. Webfluential

Webfluential really means what its name suggest – this platform helps influencers of YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and even bloggers using the WordPress platform.

Webfluential provides beginner to experienced influencers with all the right tools to be able to deal with even the biggest companies like Coca-Cola, P& G, Nokia, KFC, Barclays, ABSOLUT, and more.

  • PROS: It is made with influencers in mind
  • CONS: Can’t find anything wrong with this platform.

How To Become A Brand Ambassador and Get Paid

Like most Instagram users out there, you’ve probably wondered how to become a brand ambassador. After all, they’re all over social media promoting everything from detox tea to clothing brands to teeth-whitening systems.

And you know what?

You’ve probably felt a twinge of envy as well.

I mean, what’s better than actually having a dedicated social media following and getting paid for supporting brands you love? And who wouldn’t love the freebies?!

Fortunately, being a successful brand ambassador isn’t hard at all – you just need a careful strategy. You can easily start receiving money for posts or some good old freebies from brands you love in no time.

If this is something that you’ve always been interested in, then read on and take down notes.

I’ve created a detailed 15-step guide to help you reach your dream of becoming a successful brand ambassador.

What is a Brand Ambassador?

A brand ambassador, also known as an influencer, is someone who represents a company, either in person or online.

Brands are usually looking for people to “personify” the brand’s identity and bring their values to life.

Your main mission is to spread awareness of the brand through more of a word-of-mouth strategy, instead of direct marketing.

Companies use brand ambassadors so they can have a medium to connect them and put them in touch with their customer base.

Online brand ambassadors endorse the company on social media or via blogging, while in-person brand ambassadors do that through large gatherings and events.

After all, why wouldn’t companies want brand ambassadors? 74% of consumers consider word of mouth as a critical influencer in their purchasing decisions, and 64% of marketing executives consider word-of-mouth marketing to be the most effective form of marketing (Source).

How to Become a Brand Ambassador in 20 Steps

Becoming a brand ambassador isn’t going to happen overnight. I’ve put together this 20-step guide to show you the correct path to follow to help you get started.

1. Create a compelling social media profile.

The harsh reality of becoming a brand ambassador is that first impressions mean a lot when trying to get brands to notice you, and this is especially true for your online persona.

Here are the things you’ll want to focus on your social media profile to attract brands.

  • Your bio should be eye-catching. This is the first thing potential clients will be looking at, so treat it like your business card. Provide all the important information about you like your full name, location, and contact details.
  • Follower count, content, and engagement rates matter more than anything. In today’s social media-controlled world, these are the most important factors for you to be considered. Remember, though, that genuine engagement is more important than follower count, as you’ll see below.
  • Build your own image and create a brand out of yourself. This is the most important step. Before you consider becoming a brand ambassador, think of yourself as a brand.
  • Find out what makes you different than anyone else. What makes you, you? And why would a brand want to work with you and not anyone else? When you can answer this, focus on that aspect and make sure your social media reflect this.
  • Exude a positive vibe. Your social media profiles need to have a cohesive look, a positive feel, and a lively, authentic vibe.
  • Incorporate the right keywords. Which results do you want to come up in? Do you want to become a brand ambassador in the fitness niche? Travel? Clothing? Think of that and then ensure that your profile seamlessly incorporates the right keywords.

2. Stay active on social media.

Continuously creating content, and reacting and replying to your followers’ comments to your content is important.

It’s not just about having thousands of followers, it’s about engagement.

In fact, even if you have fewer followers than other influencers in the same niche, plenty of companies will overlook that if you have a high engagement rate.

Brands will not be interested in contacting you if you are not engaged with your followers. They want to see that your followers trust your opinion, like having conversations with you, and that you are a pleasant person in general.

3. Post incredible content.

Staying active doesn’t mean that you should be posting just for the sake of posting, though.

You need to catch the attention of your existing followers and any potential ones. Make sure your feed is captivating enough for big brands to contact you.

Original, creative, and aesthetically pleasing posts that are just begging to be liked, commented on, and shared by your followers is the key to increasing your engagement.

The more compelling your content is, the better. Be it videos, Instagram pictures, infographics, tutorials, or blog posts, you will need to constantly create exciting content.

4. Create a personalized hashtag.

Come up with a catchy hashtag that represents you as a brand, and then use it in all your current and future social media posts.

This helps keep all your posts in one place and will show brands that you pretty much know what you’re doing.

5. Know your audience.

Again, having interesting content and staying active is not enough. Your overall reach is a substantial aspect of whether or not a brand will hire you as a brand ambassador.

You need to grow an audience that resonates with the type of brands you want to partner with. This is why you need to understand:

  • The type of audience your brand has.
  • The type of audience you already have.
  • How to create content that attracts the type of audience the brand is looking for.

6. Work with a brand network.

The best place to start getting brand deals is to sign up on a brand network site that facilitates the whole process for you.

You will need to have an established profile, following, and engagement by then.

Create an influencer profile on influencer networks, upload your information, and then sit back and wait!

Here are a few influencer networks you can look into.

7. Target small businesses and start-ups at first.

Small businesses and start-ups are usually looking for people who will help spread the word about their products in the most genuine way possible.

Usually, small businesses look for micro-influencers instead of established influencers because they’re easier to connect with, and frankly, more inexpensive.

That’s why it’ll be much easier for you to build up a portfolio if you start with small businesses and gain credibility along the way. It will take you half the time to secure a deal and get paid!

8. Look for brands that you already love.

What differentiates successful brand ambassadors from the rest is how much they can genuinely embrace the company they’re promoting.

When deciding which company to work with, find one that sells products or offers services that you actually like and you’re either already using or would incorporate into your lifestyle.

The more you like what you’re selling, the more authentic your endorsement appears, and the more you can influence people to buy what you’re selling.

Other companies might offer you a better deal, and you might be insanely tempted to get it, but remember: It always shows when influencers promote products that they’re not particularly fans of.

It’s obvious to these companies, and it’s going to be obvious to your followers.

So when you come off insincere, it hurts your engagement and it hurts your reputation as a brand ambassador.

If you need help getting started, these 50 companies are currently looking for brand ambassadors and influencers.

9. If you don’t know what you love, look to your own lifestyle and your favorite hobbies as a starting point.

If you’re not sure which brands to go with, it’s time to take a close look at your current lifestyle, if you’re happy to continue that lifestyle, as well as your hobbies and interests that you do for fun.

What products and services are you already using? Does brand matter? What do you look for in a brand when you’re buying something? What would make you not choose a certain brand?

It’s important to have a list written down or typed up so that it’s organized. Keep it accessible so that you can easily refer to it when you need it.

10. Passion is king.

An unrelenting, go-getter attitude is what will make you stand out among other influencers. It’s what will make your profile stand out amongst the thousands of other profiles that are all searching for the same thing.

Here’s the thing:

Becoming an incredible brand ambassador requires passion, conviction, and time investment.

Only someone who is truly passionate about what they’re promoting and about building relationships between your audience and the brand is unstoppable.

11. Set up a contact or a sponsorship page.

If you already have a website, create a page within it that explains what brands and companies you’re currently working with, what types of brands and companies you want to secure, and showcase your general stats and what you can offer to potential clients.

Be sure to include any previous brand ambassador campaigns that were successful.

If you don’t have a website yet, provide your email address in your social media profile bio so brands can contact you easily.

Brands want to work with people who can get results. Showcasing your ability to create a return on their investment is HUGE and will open the doors to a ton more opportunities in the future.

12. Network, network, and network a bit more.

Wherever you go: Network.

Be it in person, online, through social circles, or even at work events. The more people you know, the more people you’re connected to, the better.

After all, brands want someone who has a strong network around them.

Not only will it strengthen your profile as a brand ambassador but it will also increase your potential chances of getting hired by other brands.

Also, don’t be afraid to network with other brand ambassadors. They may be your competition for some brands, but remember that there are plenty of brands out there.

Networking and exchanging opportunities and best practices will do more to improve your chances for success than isolating yourself and just seething with envy at other influencers and brand ambassadors.

13. Think like a marketer.

Trust me on this one: You will need to be educated on how you can rock online marketing.

Brands want someone who can guarantee them social reach and engagement.

There are plenty of online courses that will take you through the main pillars of online marketing—from Instagram ads to SEO.

You’ll actually start to notice the difference once you implement what you learn along the way.

14. Carry yourself in a professional manner.

Everything about you—your social media profiles, your content, your comments, your communication with potential brand partners—should exude professionalism.

Your content should always be presentable and ready to showcase. Assume that potential brands are constantly looking at your social media accounts.

Also, the last thing brands want is to deal with immature and divalike behavior from a brand ambassador.

Always be polite to your commenters, even those who are rude to you or have nothing but negative comments to spew out.

When you become a brand ambassador, you may find yourself caught in the middle of some unneeded drama. All you need to do is stay polite, humble, and let your account be a reflection of your values.

Needless to say, when you get contacted by a brand, remain professional all throughout the interaction, even if you don’t end up partnering with them. Just because they’re not partnering with you now doesn’t mean that they won’t partner with you in the future.

15. Don’t take shortcuts.

You might be thinking:

“Why can’t I just buy followers? And likes? And comments?”

I’ll tell you why.

It’s because brands know. They know.

You can’t fake being a brand ambassador. Brands are very aware of engagement and will check your engagement compared to your number of followers.

They might even do spot-checks of your followers to see if they’re real people or bots.

Buying followers and paying for automated comments will simply do you more harm than good.

16. Build Relationships even after you’ve made it

The work doesn’t stop after you’ve bagged brand contracts.

You still have to establish meaningful connections not only with your followers, but also within the industry.

When it comes to your follows, make sure to be transparent. Disclose whenever you’ve partnered with a brand and is promoting one of their products. Respond to followers inquiries, comments and messages to build a loyal following.

17. Measure Your Success, Adapt and Evolve

Now that you’ve mastered how to become a brand ambassador, don’t relax just yet.

You have to be smart about your next move. So how will you know what steps you need to take?

Well, you can’t go with just your gut.

You have to use tools that would monitor your engagement, reach, and conversion rates. These tools will help you evaluate your impact, stop techniques you feel aren’t doing anything to your campaigns, and ramping up those that bring value.

While you do this, you should also stay informed about social media trends, algorithm changes, and other platform-based news that could affect your engagement with your own followers.

Don’t be afraid to experiment. Not only by trying other platforms, but also sampling new content formats and techniques for increasing audience.

18. Attend Industry Events

One way to get ahead of market changes is to be actively studying others within your industry and attending events and conferences that could connect you with potential partners.

Of course, you should understand you niche completely by now, so you’d be able to target partners that your audience would prefer.

Make sure to bring your professional media kit at every industry event you attend. This kit should highlight your reach, engagement, and audience demographics.

19. Learn Legalities of Your Business

Because you are now making money with sponsored content, you also have to teach yourself the legalities of the business.

This includes (but not limited to):

  • copyright and trademark
  • transparency
  • sponsored content disclosure
  • USA FTC guidelines
  • privacy laws
  • accuracy of testimonials and reviews
  • rules for giveaways
  • COPPA (if your content is for kids)
  • Geolocation and Data Protection Laws

20. Patience and Persistence are your secrets to success

When you commit to become a brand ambassador, you need to be persistent and patient because the road will be long and oftentimes hard.

You will constantly be looking out for your followers’ interest in order for your relationships to last.

You will continuously need to stretch your creativity to be ahead of the curve.

You will create fresh content non-stop that brands would love.

All these you’d have to do while staying genuine and authentically yourself. This is important because both your followers and brands would notice the slightest change when your brand’s values begin to be inconsistent with how they’ve known you.

These Are the Best 35 Crafts to Make and Sell in 2024

Are you a DIY enthusiast looking for ideas for crafts to make and sell online to earn some cash?

You’re in the right place.

If you’ve ever knitted a scarf, created an eccentric photo frame, built a bench, or sewn a nifty jumper, you may have thought about selling your creations.

And what better way to start making money than by doing something you’re passionate about? If you actually enjoy creating stuff from scratch (or even scrap), then you have a huge untapped opportunity to make money.

However, deciding what exactly to start making to sell can be overwhelming, especially if you’re a true DIY enthusiast and love dabbling in creating all kinds of things.

In this article, we’ll cover the best-selling crafts that you can easily make at home so you can start making money from your hobby!

35 Easy Crafts to Make and Sell

You’re going to want to make sure what you create is actually in demand and is something people actually want to buy.

I’ve previously rounded up the best-selling products on Etsy and the top sellers on Amazon to find the best crafts for you to pursue.

Look through Amazon Handmade’s Featured Artists section as well to see what is selling (and selling well) to help you get started.

1. Jewelry

Jewelry Crafts

No list of easy crafts to make and sell would be complete without jewelry.

The industry is constantly growing, people are still buying all types of jewelry, and there always seems to be constant demand.

The online jewelry market has generated $7.6 billion in sales in the US alone.

However, jewelry takes a little bit more time to make compared to any other thing on this list, but it’s definitely worth learning.

Here are some of the most sought-out jewelry items:

  • Locket necklaces
  • Letter pendants
  • Promise rings
  • Friendship bracelets
  • Beaded bracelets
  • Pearl earrings and necklaces

2. Planners and Planner Accessories

Planners are one of the easiest crafts to make and sell and are currently some of the best-selling crafts on platforms like Etsy.

With more people working from home and wanting to organize their life or take it to the next level and become a professional organizer.

You can create all types of planners—daily, weekly, monthly, to-do lists, wellness planners, fitness planners, and much more.

You can also sell parts of a planner that your buyer can assemble so that they get the exact planner they want that fits their lifestyle and their aesthetic.

For instance, you can sell planner covers in different colors, designs, and bindings (e.g., mushroom-type, 6-hole, 20-hole, etc.). Then, sell different types of refills that go with those bindings, such as blank, lined, dotted, or grid paper.

Or you can offer a 400-page blank daily planner, a 55-page weekly planner, and a 12-page monthly planner so your buyers can pick and choose which inserts they want in their planner.

Aside from the paper and the binding, other accessories for planning you can make include stickers, colored markers, fancy tapes, wooden or acrylic stamps, sticky notes, paper clips, and many more.

All you need to know is:

  • How to bundle a few sheets together.
  • How to create a template (the more creative and aesthetically appealing, the better).

Pro tip: You can make even more money by creating downloadable planner templates. Save yourself the cost of printing, binding, and shipping.

If you’re doing everything from scratch, I recommend using Canva (it’s a lifesaver if you’re non-techy – Canva is like a Photoshop for anyone without graphic design skills). Also, make sure to read my guide how to make money with print on demand.

3. Crochet and Knitted Products

Crochet DIY crafts

If you’re the kind of crafty person who loves needle arts, then crochet and knitted products have great potential to earn you money.

You can pretty much create everything: from beanies to scarves to mug warmers to face masks.

Pro tip: Make sure your product is unique (price, design, marketing) since the crochet industry is highly competitive. Don’t price your product too high unless you are offering something no one else is.

4. Candles

The candle business is one of the most lucrative in the world. Despite all and any technological advances in lighting, there’s just something about lighting a candle that’s incomparable to any other light source.

There are plenty of niches to explore in the candle-making industry as well: religion, birthdays, rituals, natural, scented candles, and many more.

Also, because it’s highly popular, you’ll never have to deal with a shortage of candle-making tutorials and materials, and thus, handmade candles are some of the easiest crafts to make and sell online.

5. Holiday-Themed Decor and Gifting Items

This might seem like quite a surprise, but holiday-related decorations are one of the best-selling categories on Etsy.

And for good reason!

Considering the many national and religious holidays and observances in the US—Easter Sunday, Passover, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and High Holy Days, to name just a few—you’ll never run out of holidays as themes.

From personalized gift tags and stickers to cards, candles, napkin holders, tablecloths, runners, curtains, pillowcases, and tree or table ornaments; your options are endless.

Plus, any stock you don’t sell in a given year can still be sold when the holiday comes around again.

6. Bath Bombs

DIY Bath Bombs

Bath bombs are all the rage right now (#selfcare).

The materials are cheap, they’re simple to make, and they have a good profit margin.

Making those delightful chunks of colors, scent, and happiness takes very little learning time, and they sell very well.

Best of all, your creativity is the limit; try out different color combinations, scents, packaging, and even the names of your bath bombs.

Pro tip: Keep your raw materials fresh, always use natural, food-grade ingredients, and make sure they’re safe to use on the skin.

7. Pet Toys

Pet toys aren’t normally at the top of your mind when you brainstorm for crafts to make and sell.

10. Gift Boxes

Have you got a few talents up your sleeve and don’t know how to utilize your knowledge without wasting time and effort?

Or are you less crafty but have an eye for creative execution?

Instead of cluttering your virtual shopfront with hundreds of products, compile products that belong together in a gift box and sell them as a set.

11. Pillow Covers

You can go about this two ways: you can either sew pillow covers yourself or you can source plain pillow covers and then decorate them yourself.

If you’re an artist, you can paint on the pillow covers and sell them as art, or you can sell customized pillow covers, with users specifying their name or the digital artwork they want on their pillow, which you can then place on the pillow covers through heat transfer paper.

12. Handmade Kids’ Clothing

Usually, kids’ clothing is one of those niches where you can get as creative as you want.

Do you want to create an oversized unicorn onesie?

Go for it.

Batman pajamas?

Yup.

An irresistibly cute mini-robe?

Yes, please!

The kids’ clothing category includes a lot of crafts you can make and sell – from little scarves, onesies, ear warmers, booties, and gloves.

Your best advantage, though?

Low costs thanks to how tiny the clothes are and high turnover thanks to how quickly they’re outgrown!

13. Wedding Products

This is a category that Etsy dominates in, and it’s a good category to start selling your crafts under.

Whatever medium you work with—watercolor, acrylic, or oil—your paintings can find new homes when you sell them online.

You can also digitize your paintings and sell them as desktop wallpapers.

If you’re more into drawings or illustrations, you can also sell those, but they fetch a lower price than paintings.

You can sell them as postcards or framed wall décor, or you can draw on a notebook with a blank cover so that it now has a pretty cover, and then sell those.

It’s amazing to think that a dollar-store glass container or even an upcycled one can be transformed with a bit of etching cream and a stencil.
